Can you use r4s dongle on patched switch?

I'm thinking about buying a r4s dongle for my switch but i can't figure out if i can use it on a patched switch.

If your switch is patched your only way is install a modchip

Thank you for the answer, i have heard its kinda hard to install a mod chip would you recommend it or should i just wait and hope there comes an exploit for patched switches if its even possible for an exploit to come?

Recommendation would be v1 unpatched unit if you want to have access to CFW

Yea i think it will be cheaper and more easy if i sell my patched switch and buy a unpatched one, thank you for the quick answers and help
