Hacking Can you get game patches while using Gateway?

It just occured to me that Pokemon X and Y have a gamebreaking glitch, if I'm playing it on a Gateway is it possible for me to get the patch that fixes that?

I know gateway can go online, but didn't people start getting banned from the eshop? Is it possible to get the patch another way?

noone got banned... with gateway 2.3 + 8.1 emunand you can just go to eshop and search for "update" and then download all the updates you want, just to be safe, in case a new, not-supported firmware gets released

only story i have heard of people getting banned from eshop was someone who had used a stolen credit card to buy games from eshop

but the ban was indeed only from eshop

Nope. As long as the game is the same region as the 3ds, you can download any updates.

Are you not supposed to be able to pull bob-ombs online?
I'd be more worried if they removed it. I don't want characters changing during online play.

Giving Peach items is still unfair, no matter how rare it may be.

And just to clarify, this is the only way at the moment to get patches? I assume it signs to your profile or something? So I couldn't just get someone who already has the patch to send me the file?

the downloads are encrypted per console key as far as I know, so no you can't
what you can do is, look if there are scene releases of games, that already came with the patch preinstalled to the cartridge
also BBB seems to have found a way to decrypt those patches and dlcs, as they have already released a game with dlc preinstalled, so maybe we will see scene roms with updates preinstalled soon, too - who knows

If I recall correctly, New.Super.Mario.Bros.2.Including.10.DLC.EUR.3DSWare.3DS-BigBlueBox is just an eShop release of the game that included DLC. He didn't inject the DLC into the rom.
