Gateway is able to emulate the newest firmware as long as you got a 3ds on 9.2 or below

Both devices work online. Sky3ds has a higher chance to get you banned from online play since you cannot obtain a private header without a powersave or gateway compatible 3ds.

1. If I get banned, is there an easy way to get unbanned?
2. If I get a N3DS v.9.2 or below, is it possible to emulate the newest firmware W/O a Gateway card? So I can have both just in case?
3. Do I need any extra games (CN, OOT, etc.) to run Sky3DS?

1. I did edit my above post with this answer.
2. You can but all it does is remove the region lock right now.
2. CN or OoT are required only for gateway. There's also an unreleased exploit that doesn't require a game (referred to as the Mii exploit here)

Edit: Actually you can't use 9.6 emunand on n3ds yet.

If you get banned, the only way you're getting unbanned is if Nintendo unban you. Which I believe occurred recently.

Only on old 3ds at this point in time

But as I said earlier. Your going to get banned if you don't use a private header which requires a gateway compatible 3ds or powersaves to obtain.

Gah. So what do I do. All I care about is this:

1. Being able to play online
2. Being able to "emulate" normal games.
3. Have a N3DSXL

Don't care about homebrew. Don't care about EShop. What should I do.

Also Eshop includes eshop exclusive games too. Sky3ds cannot play these at all.

This Powersave is it a product or something? it's asking me for a license key. The homepage doesn't mention anything of a physical object that you need.

Sky3ds doesn't require anything special to run. It's fully plug and play (but takes some time to set up on the computer). You press the button on the top and it switches to the next game on the list after about 5-10 seconds

You will need to be on the latest firmware to play games online with sky3ds (because you need access to the eshop to download them). This means no custom firmware in the near future. Custom firmware requires 9.2 and below

Also if the game does not exist in physical form then sky3ds cannot play it.

Gateway can play online on any firmware because you can use the leaked devkit tools to install the updates that can be found on the main rom site.

Yeah it's a dongle type device to read/write saves to the cart, you need to buy the device which include a licence code to use the software
