Hardware Can PS2 SLIM have a problem without its disk drive?

Just a question since nobody seems to answer me on some forums, does disabling or removing the disc drive of the ps2 slim can harm the voltage of the console? Cause i accidentally broke the laser ribbon when im gonna deep clean it plus the laser is dead anyway before breaking it accidentally (i use fmcb) .everything still great on the console tho.

No,it does not harm anything,you can use your Slim PlayStation 2 without DVD-Drive.
No Fix,nothing is needed.
It is not that dramatical like with the Nintendo Wii or Wii U.
