I don't think it can brick it but I know some themes freeze on my 3ds, if that happens i take the sd/microsd out and reboot the console

No. You can't even brick your system at all if you use Ninjhax 2/IronHax/TubeHax, because it is a usermode exploit; it can just do what a normal game can do. So don't be afraid, and try as many themes as you like.
thanks for clarifying. I was thinking this couldn't happen 'cause the themes are just in userland, but I was also like "maybe i'm wrong, might as well ask anyway." :P

If you get a 'semi' brick from any theme..

On sysnand turn off 3ds, remove sd, turn back on and install a default theme

On emunand browse sd on a pc. Go to Nintendo 3ds - (id0 of your emunand) - (id1) - extdata/ delete the appropriate folder based on your region.

JPN - 000002cc
USA - 000002cd
EUR - 000002ce

Reinsert sd and power on 3ds and install a default theme.

Learned the emunand one the hard way.

The worst I've seen happen is a frozen 3DS on the menu after boot. That happened to a friend of mine, when he followed all the steps just as I did them but with his theme of choice via shared screens over Skype. Just turn off the 3DS completely, remove your SD Card, start the system, but the card back in after the menu loads, change to the default theme, restart the system with the card in, change to a DLC theme to overwrite the bad custom files, and you should be all fixed.

Maybe I should have a separate SD with a brick theme to lock my 3DS. Much better than Parental Controls! :D

Aye, with "This 3DS is bricked, yo" written on the top screen or something xD

Write "you may catch a virus. to fix this problem download more RAM" on the bottom screen for bonus points! xD
