Can Classic Controller Patch be applied to an already injected game (Super Mario Galaxy 2, Kirby's Return to Dreamland)

Earlier this summer, I jailbroke my old Wii U with Aroma; it has gone very well as I have breathed some life into my old system and my 6-year-old son enjoys playing it (it may have bought me until I have to get a Switch this Christmas).

I have seen posts about the Classic Controller patch for SMBG1 and 2 and some other Wii-era games that did not have Classic Controller support back in the day. Is there a way to apply the patch if I already have a VC-format version of these games or would it still require patching the iso? I lost my old Wii remotes and don't really want to go buy new ones.

I think it be easier and safer to redo the iso than start adding patches via ftp. Also I'm not 100% sure but you may have to also manually patch the vc container if you did go the ftp route.
