Hacking can anyone confrim if WiiSpeak works without updating to 3.4?

Wii Speak works fine for me running on a 3.2U Wii playing a retail copy of Animal Crossing through the backup channel. I haven't tried the Wii Speak channel yet.

WiiSpeak sucks... period. They should've just made a nice headset for online gaming and integrated it for future games like Call Of Duty, Smash Bros Brawl (an online mic version)...etc.

it is because of the IOS geckoOS uses I'm fairly certain, cause you need 37 & 38 for the game to work properly, if I'm not mistaken, and it needs to run through the disc channel to enable the in-game chat....

that is my theory, I am not able to test.

Yeah, I think you're theory is correct. And that's the theory i was banking on too. When I booted AC using GeckoOS the WiFi acted odd. I could open my gate and all, but when someone tried to enter my town we would get error codes. Installing the IOS and booting from the disc channel solved that.

mic on AC work fine (haven't installed anything), wifi work great too (with people who have soft mod and no mod)

Ok, here's the end all, be all confirmation...

WiiSpeak in Animal Crossing works with any generic mic (I have the Logitech USB mic which also works with Guitar Hero, Boogie, Rock Band, and the Disney singing games)

WiiSpeak CHANNEL only works with the WiiSpeak OFFICIAL accessory.

I am on Wii System 3.2U with Starfall installed.

If you are on any Wii System lower than 3.4, you need to install IOS55 and the Animal Crossing fix (I believe it's IOS51), and IOS38. That will allow you to use the OFFICIAL WiiSpeak Channel and OFFICIAL WiiSpeak mic accessory.

So far (at the time of this post), you can ONLY use the OFFICIAL WiiSpeak accessory mic to access the WiiSpeak channel. If you don't have the OFFICIAL WiiSpeak accessory mic, it will tell you to turn off your Wii, and reconnect it before starting the channel again.

I already had IOS55/IOS51 installed for playing the NFS game, I bought Animal Crossing and played that game, so i prolly have IOS38 also installed.
Installed Wii-Speak accessoire and Wii-Speak Channel, after connecting to the Wii-Speak channel it said i had to turn on "Connect24", so i did and
rerun the Wii-Speak channel. Got through the whole configuration process and the whole thing works without problem.
As i don't like "Connect24" i turned it off after the Wii-Speak configuration, but it seems Wii-Speak will not work (returning an error code and back
to the wii menu, turning "Connect24" back on makes you use Wii-Speak without problems
(pitty about the "Connect24" you need, i preffer it off)

well i'm curently in 3.2E, wii speak works great with animal crossing, but I've got the black screen under dthe wii speak channel, i already installed the ios38 thanks (that's why the mi works under AC) but if i install IOS51 + IOS55, will all my homebrew still work ? what about the truncha trick ? the freeloader too ? is it possible to stay in 3.2 E ?

and for the channel, i need ios 38, 51, and 55.

i have 38 installed. i have 51 installed (muzers shop channel fix). so i just need it install ios 55, and the wiispeak channel will work? please reply to that one too.

alright ladies and gents im on 3.2u and i downloaded wiispeak through shop channel, put my ticket # and bam! everything werks perfect! i run accf through gamma, because i get a blank screen of death if i use disc channel
