Acti Blizz just confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release in the fourth quarter of this year.

No details on the Infinity Ward title were given, but an exec said he believed the game will be the most anticipated for the end of 2009.

The news came as part of Activision’s fourth quarter earnings call.

People have been pressuring me to buy the original but now that this is coming out, I am definitely going to get it. Hopefully CoD4 will then drop in price.

Shouldn't buy CoD4, CoD2 is so much better.
And you can probably get that game for 5 dollars

I am not much of a fan of the FPS genre. When I play ones, it is generally a stealthy one such as Rainbow Six. As such, I want a game with a large user base that will recieve continual support from the developers.

and no doubt itll be another crappy port from the xbox or ps3. honestly, up until now the graphics for the the call of duty series on wii have been appauling. i know the wii is no powerhouse graphically but shit, COD WAW looked so bad i had to throw it out and pretend it never happened.

They are different games. I'm, for example, a bit tired of all the WWII FPSes. On the other hand, I loved CoD4. IMO, CoD2 and CoD4 should be "one or the other", but "one and the other".

PS: Which WWII-based is better, CoD2 or WaW?

Thanks for the news, despite I've already heard it. Gonna get this for the PC and maybe my PS3, thats if it is released on those consoles. Yet it might, and if not will, be released on all the consoles out there, except PS2 [IMG]

Wow, didn't expect it so soon. To be fair, thinking about it it'll have been nearly two years since CoD4 in Q4, and they're using the same engine (I assume), which speeds up development time nicely.

Can't wait. Didn't really like COD:WAW but loved COD4, so this should be great.

@EdgeDancer- Get COD4 not COD2, IMO COD4 online is a blast, the Campaign is decent but Online is where it's at.
