ill keep waiting for a mod chip honestly gary, thats the real deal instead of all the fuss with Fusee Geleee.

just boot and let the mod chip do its work.
xecuter supposdly announced way back there is a solder and solderless solution.
so i hope we will get a chip soon.

all of the modchip prototypes i have seen are basically internal versions of the usb dongle, using fusee gelee. some are more clever than others, but all are basically just internalized usb dongles.

For the batteries you can buy cheap on Hobbyking.com, they have lipos, life, li-ion, good turnigy LSD Nimh and whatever you will want for a nice price...

@Ninoh-FOX have you thought about hooking up an sd card to the SPI on the trinket for easily swappable payloads? Looks like there is enough io for this and even possibly a button to switch between payloads.

Is genma adafruit a nice candidate too? Seems to embark battery controller and compatible chip. Shape is fun imho.

The Gemma M0 looks pretty nice, but you still would need something to charge the LiPo.

Would a 40mAh battery be sufficient for the Trinket M0? It's smaller than the Adafruit 150mAh battery.

The chip of a nes mini is too big for a dongle, maybe as a payload deliverer that is not a dongle, but it whould not be a dongle whit that size, i may be wrong

just a question as you have seen with xecuter dongol it has 2 giant cap, why not go this way instead of a battery to save space and shrink it more.
or you guys afriad it might brick the switch

Trinket M0 is the name of the product that was made by adafruit. It uses a ATSAMD21 uC made by Microchip (former Atmel) and this uC has a ARM Cortex M0 core.

The STM32F0 has also a M0 core, but not all of these uCs have usb host capabilities. The STM dev boards are also much bigger than the trinket for example.
