i got a guy helping me with this eho does this sort of thing all the time. I can barely spend 50 dollars on this, let alone 200. Im taking my chances. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: There aren't too many people who have specifically done this to a n3ds, and frankly you seem very reliable. When im taking it apart, mind if i ask you some questions. PM me if your answer is yes. Maybe even a skype call? This goes for anyone else too who knows what they're doing please. I need all the help i can get. 3DS modding is my life.

longboarding accident. Very painful.

So not sure if this has anything to do with this, but i recently updated from the initial release of aureinand to luma3ds. Im not sure if it was that, or the drop, but ds cartridges/ dsiware/gba games fail to load. I just blackscreen everytime. Is this possible? The B button is broken too but i'm assuming that's an easy fix.

Yeah I would love to help in any way man. Send any questions this way.

But can the agb firm/ twl firm break ftom dropping? Ds and gba games fail to load now. I'm not sure whether it was me falling on it or upgrading from aureinand 3.3 to luma3ds 5.5. Also, is the B button easy to fix? that's starting to fail too.

It might be an issue with the mother board, the buttons built on to it. How did the screen break just a drop right? Is any of the lower housing compromised? if that is the case maybe but. When the screen is broken the hardware will run broken but shouldn't affect normal usage, such as even using the bottom screen. Are your buttons feeling sticky or more depressed than normal? if so please power down the system until you fix it. If you have opened it up the i suggest tightening the screws of the mother board, it helps a lot with the buttons.

Ah ok. Given your lcd break is on the same side it may just be a pressure issue. If and when you open it play with the screws on the back side of the mobo adding tension helps a lot for that my home button and start and select had this issue even when I bought the system used from game stop ah game stop techs are plebs sometimes. added that tension and they worked and clicked like new. But if your gonna do it all in one shot you will want to play with those screws last.

Cheapest I've found are on Aliexpress (like chinese amazon). EDIT: here is one supposedly, but be very careful that it is correct.
I ordered it and it was apparently a regular new 3ds screen. It's very hard to tell nowadays. Im seeing if i can get a refund

If you end up replacing the screen i highly recommend getting one of these cases or similar:

My n3ds is spotless and works perfectly fine even after I've dropped it 4 times in this thing.

- I don't know, your guess is as good as mine. I know that the SD card is located "inside" the system. The screws under the rubber stoppers should still be there but I've never taken my New 3DS apart to do repairs (I never repaired the 3DS XL either). Just try to see if you can find anything over New 3DS repair on youtube if that is what you need.
The n3DS XL is actually very different. The motherboard only takes up half of the bottom half's space and is in an L shape, for example, while the old 3DS/XL's motherboard extends across the whole bottom shell.

Also leave the assembly as whole a possible when tearing it down, keep the smaller parts if attached keep it that way.

I may be wrong but the screen of the old 3ds is the same LCD as the new 3dsxl sorry I have been lurking again.

What? No.
The old 3DS has completely different screens; they aren't even the same size or material.
Even if you meant oXL, nah. Super-Stable 3D isn't a software thing, and plus the ribbon cable is longer to compensate for the different motherboard.

It sounds like you're having a lot of trouble with this. Searching for "New 3ds" parts is difficult because the listings love to use the buzzword "New" on all their items. Look for the tag "n3dsxl" and probably use aliexpress is my suggestion.
You'll need a lot of patience and remember to put your screws in categories when removing them, then not put them in too tight.
It's also really difficult to remove and reconnect the ribbon cables to the screens if you don't know what you're doing. I recommend going to get it repaired if a 40-50$ difference isn't a big deal to you. (I've seen and heard local repair places offering the service as well as the parts for around 80-100$)
If you want to do it yourself, you need to be sure to have the tools ready and patience to put all the ribbon cables back as they also tear very easily (A friend of mine recently tore one of his while playing with the internals.)
