I read that I shouldn't go past 4.1U is why

that is for korean wiis. those units especially softmodded ones if upgraded to 4.2U will result to a 003 error.
look at the stickies here about softmodding wii. they all tell you to upgrade to 4.2.

oh well, here is the safest, legit solution to your problem.
sell your wii by parts then buy a second hand hand one.
or buy a PS3 and forget that bad experience.

I bought my Wii 3 years ago and I decided to hack it last week. I took 2 days for reading everything I needed to understand what I was doing. I did it and hacked my Wii perfectly. The first thing I read about hacking my Wii was installing bootmii as boot2 and backing up my memory before doing anything. I'm a ****ing french canadian that isn't good with english but I understood that part. If I can understand it, anyone can do it too...

Well not...
Wow you guys need to go back and F**king read...THIS Wii was hacked at least a year ago the old way... SO NO IT DID NOT HAVE BOOTMII OR PRIILOADER...
If it did I wouldn't be on hear asking for help... please read before you just start typing away like you know something...

Blindly looking around for solutions shouldn't really be an excuse. If you were looking at the right guide, I am sure they would have told you to do a nand backup or install preloader, and etc.
If I remember correctly, 4.2 makes IOS60 a stub and use IOS70 for the menu, so I think you pretty much installed your system menu on a stub. Also, if you were to read most guides dealing with this, they tell you to never uninstall any IOS below 200. 4.2 also does something to your boot2 (updates it or something), which makes your Wii easier to brick if you were planning to downgrade, which should also be in guides regarding these things.

I was looking around, and found a guide, it says you have to downgrade the IOS in order to downgrade (if this actually works.)

Step 4: Downgrading IOS

1.Rename boot.dol on the SD cart to boot_cios.dol
2.Rename boot_downgrader.dol to boot.dol
3.In HBC, press the home button of the Wii remote and select Launch Bootmii.
4.cBoot2 should start and then IOS Downgrader.
5.Press on A to start the Downgrade.
6.Care for that all IOS files are ready and it says Installation complete. OK!
7.When this is ready, press any button to return to the HBC or system menu.

So as you can see, it says you have to use Bootmii to downgrade, and I never found any of these steps on your first post. Going blindly on something you aren't familiar isn't smart. Patience is key.
You screwed yourself, we already told you your options, so why don't you go back and READ, and stop wasting your time, and ours.

I did say it was hacked the old way ....which I thought most of you could understand, meaning that there is NO Bootmii or priiloader

Funny... You tell us to go back and read, and yet, you can't even read correctly. As I pointed out, the guide that tells you how to downgrade tells you that you need Bootmii, it doesn't matter how you have hacked it, you could still have been able to install Bootmii. Just because you don't have something, doesn't mean you should skip the step. Did you even do research before attempting this? From your posts, it doesn't seem like you tried that hard.

So ... you read enough of the guide to send email to get the ntscupdate.zip, but you didn't bother to read any of the rest of it, like the stuff about installing bootmii and how to properly downgrade to 4.1 (which is pointless btw).

You didn't bother to read and you still aren't. Your questions have been answered multiple times by some very knowledgeable people.

Send it to Nintendo, send it to DeadlyFoez, or use it as a paperweight. Those are your three options.

OK.... Sorry if I offended anyone here...Considered a lesson learned...BIG NOOB MISTAKE !!!

I softmodded my wii a year ago was on 3.3 and upgraded to 3.4 silly me,so did the twilight hack downgraded to 3.2 stayed there for a while and eventually upgraded to 4.0 usi9ng wannins method as I wanted SD card function on the system menu I spent ages reading guides and then found out about bootmii/preloader, can only install boot2 as an IOS and got preloader on and everything works fine thought about upgrading to 4.2 but nothing of much interest on that menu and its not broken so doesnt need fixing.

The BIOS analogy I couldn't of said that any better
