a short intro to virtual memory first
virtual addresses can be mapped onto physical addresses
they don't have to line up
ie going forward in virtual address space does not (always) mean forward in physical address space
it can map to wherever
so, in paslr: the memory used by the programs code is split into some amount of blocks, then the blocks are allocated in random order in physical memory
while maintaining the same order in virtual memory
the GPU (used for gspwn) accesses physical memory directly
so this complicates *hax as it relies heavily on gspwn
solution: use the gpu to search...
so we know the right order to put things in so it all lines up like it should

Ok, but what does updating HBL have to do with updating HB applications? I'm waiting for a 3DS game dumper + 3DS rom emulator that works as well as ddd + Loadiine (Wii U) and CleanRip + Dolphin (Wii and GC), basically.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does braindump work on newest firmware? I have ninjahax for homebrew and have the braindump folder in my sd card but there's no option for braindump.

If it's in the root of your SD card you'll have to press b to navigate up and then into the folder. It should go in your /3ds folder if you want to avoid this.

Oh I didn't know it had to go in the /3dsfolder. So put the contents of the braindump folder in or just the whole folder. Sorry I'm new to all this

Either should work. And like I said, you don't have to, but it'll be easier to find if you put it there.

so i followed your instruction but whenever i try to dump something i get a yellow screen and i have to restart my system

If you're trying to dump ORAS or certain other games, you won't be able to until Smealum releases an update to the homebrew launcher. The same games won't work in HANS until then, either.

oh derp. Kinda the whole reason I wanted to use braindump was to dump ORAS. Is it a n otherapp for the 11.2 firmware thats needed?

Well, it's technically a change for something that was added in 10.4 for the eshop, but has been added to a bunch of games that have been used as HBL entrypoints, and will be applied to all new games after 11.2.
