I need to know whether to get the rom Brain Age or Brain Age v01, for use on the Wood R4.

Also need to know whether it's nessecary to get v01 of Super Mario 64 DS, are the fixes nessecary only when running on emulators? I'd rather have the games as the designers intended.

The 1.01 ROMs are cartridge re-releases intended to fix small glitches (for example, SM64DS had an infinite 1-up bug that had something to do with a Mega Mushroom and a pole in Whomp's Fortress, and it was fixed in 1.01).
Also, there are Action Replay incompatibilities between 1.0 and 1.01 ROMs.

So YayMii, if I understood you correctly, these are actually in-store cartridge re-releases made by the developers. Well, good to know. Thanks very much!

and some pokemon games have gotten like 1.6).
That'd be the Japanese Diamond and Pearl.
Kinds of make sense, since it was their first time making a Pokémon game for the DS.
