There is no point NOT to update, if you want to keep using Luma you have to anyway.
I'm on 11.2 with A9LH. I have full Gateway functionality, to include CIA installed games (I use this for cheat searching, and it supports cheats that you WILL NOT have available on NTR), ctr-httpwn works, and I have full access to online play and eshop. Not only is there a reason to "not update", there's not many compelling TO update...at this point in time. Until such time as Nintendo and/or Luma offer a feature in a future update that necessitates an update, you're perfectly fine staying right where you're at provided you're using a moderately recent Luma.

I don't disagree with you, but if you're not using Gateway, then there is no reason to use out dated exploits period, whether they work or not.

I updated just now and the boot times are the same for a9 and b9, not even a tiny difference, so if someone is updating for boot time reduction like me than you are out of luck

In this present point of time, maybe a lot of users would not find much point, but the boot9strap method only takes a few minutes to setup and there is far less chance of Nintendo patching it (if at all, in comparison to a9lh - which is also unlikely). In the forthcoming weeks/months, lets see what all this may bring

I kinda wish I held off until boot animations were working. Cuz at this time B9S isn't doing anything for me that a9lh wasn't doing for me, except loading up only slightly faster. But its also such a small thing that I don't care all that much and I'm sure boot animations will be back soon enough.

Oh I feel the same way, surprisingly something I don't even think about with normal use is the one thing I miss the most Lol. I'm left with a void.

My O3ds XL is on 11.4.0-37E and i am using Luma.
So i need to update to get Luma updates is that correct?
I read the 3ds guide and i think i need to use the DSIWARE install but not sure.
Hoping someone could clarify for me please.
Will i lose any saves etc when i update?
Thanks

You don't need dsiwarehax, just follow the guide
No, you won't lose anything.

What are the consequences of not going to b9s?
I guess from now, there will be more things specifically for b9s (Luma for example will not be updated for a9lh anymore)
Also the chance of Nintendo patching this are apparently not possible (although a9lh can in theory - maybe not?) have more chance of being patched

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
