Hi,

I have a modded Mariko v2 switch with a Picofly chip. All works perfect, I am using it already for a few months now. But when I started comparing my root of my SD card with HATS pack contents or other pre made packs online, I noticed that they all contain a boot.dat and a boot.ini file. While my SD card root doesn't have this two files...

I always boot via Hekate fss0. Might this be why I don't have these two files? And do I actually need to have that two files? So I don't have any issues with my Switch, but I was just wondering why I am missing this two files.

Thanks in advance for more info on this.

Hi,

you're not missing anything actually...boot.dat (+boot.ini) is for SX chips (and clones), when you decide to keep SX firmware on it (people, like me, who have reflashed the chip with spacecraft-nx, can directly load payload.bin)

boot.dat, for a lot of users, is just SX Gear, which is made to load payload.bin
in your case, your chip loads directly payload.bin (which is better)
