Why don't you make your own PC. If a 13 year old like me can do it, there shouldn't be any reason why you shouldn't. Also with 2000 euros you should be able to build a gaming beast

With 2000 euros you might as well buy a gaming beast.

But if you build your own you can customise it more!

Also, with that amount of money I would advise you to get the Logitech G19 keyboard. It's LCD screen looks so awesome!

Definitely a desktop if gaming is your main priority. You get better specs for the same money, the screens are larger, they're less likely to overheat and you can easily upgrade the graphics card in the future to keep it ticking for longer. Also in general, when laptops go wrong they're harder to fix. Laptops are great if you travel a lot or use a PC in various locations around the house, but if you find yourself sitting in the same place all the time a desktop may be more suitable in the long run.

Desktop if you're into gaming. Playing on a laptop just isn't as comfortable, among reasons others have mentioned.

Building a custom desktop pc is really the best option. You'll get the best bang for your money compared to buying an overpriced alienware pc. If you're not comfortable building the pc yourself, there are a few computer hardware sites that will do it for you, when you order your parts, for a small fee.

It depends whether you're in college or not. If so, then definitely a laptop. Otherwise, I'd get a desktop since they're just so much more powerful.

I think he ran for the hills, everyone gave this guy great advice, I offered to help him this is my area, custom systems, servers, water cooling

I think he got a little scared, hes 13 as well, and lets hope his parents are williung to give him 2000 euro's

Best place for that computer is downstairs, running a bbs old school on PCboard or Renegade, hooked up to the other line you paid 14.99 a month for. Using Toneloc to scan PBX's.

something like that

oldies

Thats really nice, I do love seeing all that wiring with the glass case. You can hide wires now or use clips, but I think that looks awesome the way you have it.

All you really get with a laptop is mobility. The desktop is usually easier to mess with and upgrade. Easier to put in additional muscle. Not to mention most often a comparable desktop will be a lot cheaper.

But hey mobility has it's uses.

I run my role games off my laptop. Nothing like having all my books in one easy to carry form.
Nothing like visiting a distant relative and being able to take all your computer activities with you.

But they rarely make laptops with much muscle unless you are willing to say damn the price, I want performance. So, if you have 2000 bucks, maybe you can get a laptop that makes my desktop look like a waste of desk surface

But 2000 bucks will also buy a bitchin new desktop too.

And my desktop is attached to a 22" wide screen monitor as well.

For $2000 and being smart you could get a seriously wicked laptop with a dedicated video card and its own RAM too that would be exceptional probably on a 15 if not 17" wide screen LCD. I personally gave up doing PC gaming as the upgrades for parts and the rest along with the assholes of the industry using gamers as guinea pigs for their for sale beta ware just did me in. I used Christmas money on a MSI Wind 210(LS2100) ultra portable notebook (no CD drive on it but got am ext. dvd/cdrw for $40 recently) and it's one step up from a netbook as it has 2GB of ram, hdmi output, and a dedicated ATI card too in it. I can't run crap like COD4, or anything that really wants to use certain forms of lighting throttles the hell out of the video (DX9 lighting tricks) but if I stick to using DirectX7 level T&L, etc it's damn smooth so even stuff like D&D Online run nice. It's quite handy for $395 being able to screw around on this little 12" widescreen and use this board, etc but it's obviously due to the lack of DX9 ability not a gaming workhorse unless I can get around that. It serves my needs fantastically and likely next time I get a new portable or not I may just go with a $1000-2000 laptop that can do some heavy hitting crap as I stick with PCs long enough now I could care less about upgrades much other than RAM.

Only desktops get this sexy, and feels good when you build it all yourself:

what the hell are you smoking. at least get some zipties to clean it up a little if you want to show it off.

here's a case with awesome cable management (antec 300 with a modified harddrive bay). he's cut out a hole next to the psu for the cable to go in and some more holes appropriately placed so they connectors go where they need to go.

as you get into decently w/c system they get hella nicer.

Laptops are nice. Especially if they have a quality video card. But you can't beat the upgradeability of a desktop.
