"ctrclient: failed to connect"

Ive been trying for the past week.
Yes my ip is correct.
Yes I'm holding L.
I'm standing right next to my router.
My firewall is disabled.

I can boot into CFW just fine but it will never connect to CTR.

Any tricks?

Im on 4.2

may be a stupid question. but are you at 4.5 or less?

Japanese console FW 4.4.0-10J

I also found out that going to Nintendo DS Internet settings (or whatever it is called in English FW) resets the exploit and I can enter DS Profile Settings. The name is set to Matthew and the birthdate is 29.05 for some reason (neither is mine).

hmm, all my installed cia's hang. i installed zelda oot using exinjector and i think rsfgen? got an error that the system crashed and a message to hold home to quit, but i actually had to shut it off

then i tried a smaller game, crush3d, without the exinjector. installed fine but hung at the 3ds loading screen. the one with the red corners coming in.

any ideas?

Why don't you use DevMenu?

launching from devmenu hangs at blackscreen.

this time i tried crush3d, untrimmed, update partition intact. so it was an untouched rom.
i used exinjector and rsfgen. used fw spoof and removed region lock.
still hangs.

You said you installed the cia's with separate programs? I installed with DevMenu and they all worked fine.

no, no. i install them with dev menu. i create the cia by getting the xorpads for the rom and using the settings i mentioned in a batch program.
how are you making yours? or are you just downloading them somewhere?

I find them elsewhere, because I never was handy making my own. Maybe try using other people's cia's?

installcia 192.168.2.11 1 xxx.cia
weird that the ip on your lan would be 192.168.2.x instead of 192.168.1.x. i would confirm this first.
other issues i personally had:

the run.bat included with darkflare's tutorial didn't work for me but the one included in the palantineCFW (found here) did. even when running at the same time.

the cia file name needs to be simple and all lowercase. i renamed BigBlueMenu.cia to bigbluemenu.cia and DevMenu_v2.cia to devmenu.cia. the name must be reflected exact in the run.bat.

i had to run it while i was in the emuNAND system. after the run.bat returned 0, i closed the 3ds to enter sleep then reopened it to get a new software message.
