Why buy a 2gb? I got an 8gb from radio shack for $24

Sounds like you're going by dated R4 advice.
Yeah, Japanese Kingstons were pretty fast 2GB cards, but there's lots of 4gb+ cards out there for your Acekard, they're cheap enough, and they're easy to identify as slow (Class 2) or fast (Class 6)
