... If I had this BEFORE I foolishly updated my Wii to 4.3j, I would saved myself a whole bunch of trouble...
Crap.
Crap.
Honestly, I don't understand why the hash checks are functioning differently for me than it is for some users. Every time I download things from NUSAD it works perfectly (0 errors), and if I force an error, it always lists which files are missing or changed.QUOTE said:Another Idea: Could you maybe add an "Clean-Update-Mode" which downloads all unmodified IOS for a clean "Ninty-Like" Update?
Something like "Emulate 4.2 Update" or so.no way! there's a reason why people say NOT to update via nintendo. An official update could kill a regionchanged Korean wii, or stub cIOSs... not to mention that if I were to have it emulate an update it would always grab the most recent version of files, which would mean every time ninty puts out an update, NUSAD users would be at risk.
If u want to DL only the updated IOSs, just use the wizard, say u are starting to 4.2 and ending on 4.2, and say no to the other options, and it will only grab the active unmodified IOSs (note that IOS70 will be patched). Also note that these are NOT the most recent IOSs that came out with the 4.3 update, those IOSs just make it more difficult to hack your Wii with no extra benefit (NUSAD v4.1.5 will also have IOS58 available for download)QUOTEAnother Question: Do you/someone else may knows why the Hashes of:
-xzxero Guide-Wads
-NUS Downloader 1.4Beta-Wads
-and NUSAD Wads
are all different?
Is this because of using other "inside" tools to pack the WAD-Files?
Correct, but these aren't "inside" tools (they are available to all), but each app used to pack wads or dump wads may have a different method of doing so. Some may timestamp wads, so even if u use the same program twice it would yield different hash just because it was packed at different times.
So which WADs are the best packed ones, nearest Ninty Quality?
They all contain the same content, so one is not better than the other
DeadlyFoez said:Hey man. I'm getting errors with downloading with NUSAD also now. Nintendo must have changed some code in the older IOS's or something. I can confirm that 4.1.4 worked perfectly fine a few days ago, but now errors, so it is obviously not because of your app. The only thing that could have changed was nintendo files. Weird.
Interesting? Is this for real? They actually changed the versions they had on their servers?XFlak said:I unpacked 2 different IOS38-64-v3867's, one grabbed from NUS before 4.3 and one after. I then analyzed the differences between the 2 and have concluded only 2 files have changed (I'm pretty sure that the same conclusions apply to all the changed files)
1) the *.cert file (note, this file is found in all IOS wads and is the same, just named differently)
2) the *.tmd file
I'm not sure how they changed... but I do know that they have changed. I am concerned that ninty may have somehow applied their vulnerability security patches retroactively to all outdated non-stubbed IOSs specifically to counter apps like dop-mii, MMM and NUSAD that may download older vulnerable files off their servers
