I used to burn them at 2x, the slower the speed the better the results I found. But the truth is you'll always get stuttering and slowdowns via cd so your best bet is to invest in an external harddrive.

i use verbatim, but for everything i use 4x, it's srsly the best speed
i once tried 2x with mario galaxy 1, cuz i had only 1 disc left back then and the game just slowly crashed at the intro
it would help if u would tell us what's the backupfile/your writer and the discs u use
ed.: memino, i never used hardrives[cuz i had too many discs] and i never had issues with them, at all
guess it's different for everyone

Yea I agree discs are just fine, never had any problems with them myself but I only use them for gamecube now. It's more convenient to use harddrive with easy access to all your games and no need to swap cds everytime you need to play other games. It's also significantly faster and they are so cheap now, it's win win win.

I was about to say the same thing. Why on earth would anyone burn Wii games?
lol cause i have a few dvds laying around..

Hardly even worth it, you could save the DVD's and put scrubbed games on a 4 gig flash drive if you don't have a hard drive. Few games won't fit on one, only dual layer games (such as Brawl and Metroid Trilogy), but they DO have DVD5 versions of those out in addition to the DVD9 rips.

4x with DVD-R worked always for me.
