I've got the info from my ISP and would like to set it up. Which reader should I try?

BTW, it looks like Earthlink limits you to 5GB every 30 days. Does anyone know if there is a limit for RoadRunner?

Thanks!

I'll be able to download a lot of homebrew with this!

Also, any tutorials for the whole downloading process? I've done a lot of stuff in my day, but newsgroups isn't something I've used.

I mainly do torrents.

Don't use a "new group reader" Use binsearch.info and grab the .nzb files. Then you just need a little .nzb reader to download the binaries. Works very well.

i just got into this too... just to try it out, i got on a $3/3day pass thru usenetserver.com, and i must admit, it's fast, really fast. but it seemed rather clunky through newsleecher, i couldnt get it to que the nzb files to download the next one after this one, but it just downloaded the file to my drive, not the files associated with it

Another vote for Newsbin!

Binsearch in conjunction with the site's release list (file name) is what I'd recommend for finding a release.

I use newshosting(dot)com - unlimited plan - good retention blazing speeds!

GrabIt FTW! Big fan of newzbin.com for most all of my nzb needs. Its just sooo much more organized compared to binsearch.info. And yes you do have to pay for newzbin.com's best features, but its so cheap (/me loves their Xmas half off special......full year for half the price!!!)

soo nzb's are like torrents? but connect through a reader?

No, nothing like a torrent. You don't have to upload to any peers and such. It's basically a file that tells your newsreader program what group to go to, and which specific files to get. So instead of downloading a ton of headers and searching throught the files manually, you use a .nzb and get exactly what you want.

Oh and its WAY faster than torrents, basically a leechers paradise.

5GB a month isnt that much at all to a hardcore pirater. I run though 4 or 5 gigs of data nearly everyday lol. Luckily my ISP gives me unlimited download traffic.

Assuming this is cool to talk about, I would suggest www.merlins-portal.net as opposed to newzbin. But having used both, they are both very good. Merlin is free but ::shrug:: Newzbin isn't expensive anyway.

I use Newsleecher, usenetserver and ngindex myself...although most of the time I download by hand instead of messing with nzb files.

Don't forget to grap QuickPar too...

...and a buttload of blank DVDs

What's the point of "confirming" games you know will get released. Like Nintendo "confirming" a Zelda sequel. "We can't be sure Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game, or if a new Zelda game will ever be released, until they officially confirm it."
