Acekard RPG is just too cool. I don't know about it being the best but I am pretty sure everyone can agree it is has the fastest improving speed of any cart. I mean, in just the months that's been out, look at all the new menus, options, support and plug ins that have been created for it. It is really fun to watch it improve. It may not have the most features but it is a hella' cool cart.

r4. got it wen it first came out. was revolutionary in its time, does everything i want it to (who the hell needs 4gb for roms anywayz...., and rts?). i have a 2gb sandisk, it holds 13 roms, 70 songs, and like 6 anime eps at a time. what more can you ask for?

easy to customize interface, and who says they have bad support? when a game doesn't work, they fix it fairly quickly. wat more do you need?

Here's reasons why R4 isn't the best.

-SCDS1 and Cyclo both have realtime save, which lets you save anywhere you want. (Useful for some games)

-SCDS1 has a Realtime guide, where you can read guide for a game you're playing. Kinda useful for a game where you're stuck, and can't get any farther.

-SCDS1 and Cyclo both have Homebrew soft-reset, where it lets you reset from a homebrew, without turning it off then back on.

-Cyclo and SCDS1 both have slow-mo, which can slow down the gameplay, and you can see everything better, in case something is too fast. This one really isn't useful though.

-The Cyclo team tells its users on the forums about what they're adding next to their firmware, and will answer you both directly on the forums, and email wise.

- SCDS1 and Cyclo both have an in-game menu, where you can activate cheats in the middle of the game, or set the brightness (Kinda useless) higher or lower.

- SCDS1 and Cyclo have SDHC support, for people who want more than 2 gigs worth of games, music, etc.

R4 has none of that. Worst of all, they're over 50 bucks, while you can get a DSTT, SCDS1, EDGE, Acekard 2, or all under that 40 bucks. In fact, the flashkarts I've mentioned are all cheaper, and much better than an R4.

R4 used to be the best, but it's time over. There are better carts, but consumers who buy things without proper research thinks this is still the best. It's really not.

Lastly, I'm not telling any R4 owners to change their carts because it sucks, and is gonna die, etc. I'm just tell the facts. There's no reason for someone to change it, when they're already satisfied with a R4.

It WAS revolutionary. NOT ANYMORE. It does everything YOU want to, but it doesn't satisfy everyone. I need 4 gigs of roms, because I have more than that. There's hell lotta good games coming out, and I can't keep track of all of them, so I just put it on one cart. Besides, I also have huge amounts of Homebrew, music, and movies.

RTS isn't something everyone needs, I agree, because I don't use it myself. But it's extremely useful. For example,

Let's say you're watching a cutscene off some game, but then you have to go somewhere. You've been watching this cutscene for a long time, because you can't skip them. You can't save in that state, and the battery is running dry, so if you put it on sleep mode, it'll still die. Use RTS, and turn it off. When you come back, bam. You start where you left off.

Although for now its still in beta, i tried loading using Real Time Load, and the game froze.. Good thing i saved normally right before the RTS..

But im sure the cyclops team will someday fix some of those bugs.

Right now I'm caught between the Supercard and the Cyclo.

Which has better homebrew support?

I have only a Fat Ds. Are these slot-1 cards (ie compatible with mine)?

Where's the cheapest place to buy one?

Thanks!

What about me?
I would suggest the CycloDS Evolution. It runs perfectly well, unlike the SCDS1, which is known for numerous issues (although many were fixed with the SDHC version, some remain). They are comparable in features.

Cyclo DS. Without a doubt. I know 5 other people in my family and workplace that have one, and we all love it. It's sad reading all the different bugs and freezes and stuff that some of the other cart owners post about on here, I feel for them and it reminds me how lucky I am to have the Cyclo DS.

You know Cyclo isn't a perfect kart, right? I've heard some problems on it before. And batch 3 was utter failure (DOA wise). It's one of the best, but not THE best.

the greatest roblem the R4 has that with its loss of competitive awesomeness, it has become more expensive. If the price had followed the appeal or at least stayed the same, it would have been much more acceptable.

its still lacking features that basically every flash cart has now
doesnt matter if its the same price

fact is, you don't pay €55 for an outdated but good flash card if you payed €40 when it was the greatest thing known to man.
Now, if they had gone down with the price to comply with updating limitations and its competitive features, we would be at €30 or something like that right now.

Well I have a FireCard and it is definitely not the best. Also, if I remember correctly, wasn't it just back in the summer when the R4 was king, but it is now obsolete and I'm pretty sure thats whats going to happen to the CycloDS. But, thats all I got to say.

We'll see, because the CycloDS has new features coming out every 1-2.5 months. As long as Team Cyclops add new features, It will stay in the race. But There will most likely be a better card. Atleast the CycloDS will not rot like the R4.
