Google is one of the most powerful forces on the web. Their search engine is basically ubiquitous - there's a reason people say "Google It" instead of "Bing It" (The Amazing Spider-Man and Hawaii Five-0 reboot notwithstanding).

Unfortunately, it's kind of limiting. I mean, only searching through text and images? What are we, cavemen?

Not to worry, though - Google has the good business sense to experiment a little, and today they've unveiled the Google Nose, the world's first scent-based search engine.

It's certainly a bold new step for Google. I mean, AR glasses, self-driving cars, smartphones, etc. are one thing - but a smell-based browsing experience? It's crazy - indeed, it might leave some incensed.

Still, I'm glad to see that innovation is alive and well. Will it pan out for them, though?

SOOO many announced "products" come up to a week before the actual day to build the hype and watch the suckers reactions, only to be revealed as a gag on that special day.
