Hallo guys,

Well if you read my other threads i first wanted a new PC: To expensive
Then I wanted to overclock my old AGP Ati Radeon Pro 256 mb: No succes
And now I want a new AGP video card, horay!
So what card is a really good 512mb one for agp slots?
I was looking at the Ati Radeon x1950 pro, is this any good for playing games like COD4 and GOW?
Or do I need more power?
And is there a Geforce 8800 GT AGP version?
Or in other words: Recommend me a good AGP VGA card

Actually, even though I'm sort of an ATI fanboy (watch my avatar), the nVidia 8800 is currently the fastest graphics card on the market. Even ATI's 2900 can't touch it, let alone the 1900.

What card you get also depends on what AGP your motherboard slot can support.

Sounds like you got a fairly recent m'board but check that, and the power supply. Makes sense to put in new fans etc in case of heat problems, while you're at it , plus max out with decent RAM.

funny topic, I bet you read my topic and thought the same things.

let me tell you, AGP graphics card slow & $uck (out of date), go for PCI-E or PCI-E 2.0.

Yes I have Ati Radeon x1950 pro 256mb PCI-E run pretty well on Oblivion,FEAR,Pray and GOW however if you play with "COD4", "Biosock", "Crysis SP Demo" you notice FP slow down...

if I crossfire (Radeon x1950 pro 256mb x2) wonder if it improve better then Geforce 8800GT?

It won't get better. I told you this in the other topic. An 880)GT would still be better and cheaper.

I have an Nvidia 7600GS AGP in my P4 rig, and it handles Prey, Quake4, Fear etc very nicely despite being a little out of date.
I do have 2Gig of ram in dual channel mode though, so I reckon that helps a bit.

Dude, I dont know what sort of budget you have. But I wouldnt screw around buying new (Old) parts.

I built my dad a...

Nforce 650i Sli
GeForce 8800gts 340
Core 2 Duo 2.4
2GB 800mhz DDR2
500GB HDD
22" Monitor
Card Reading Bay
600Watt Power
Vista HP
and more

It all totaled 1200

YOu could remove the moitor (200) and VIsta (150)

And your at like 800-900

THats for a smoking deal. Now you can buy a Quad core for the same price I got that Core 2.

So screw your celeron and your agp board. Get some DDR2 and some Quad core, and GeForce 8800. its pretty cheap...

You don't know much about computers if you think theres a 340MB GTS. And that card is more expensive and inferior the the 8800GT 512MB. Otherwise the PC is pretty good =p
