right now, using my Acekard on full brightness I'm getting MAYBE 2 hours of battery life before the power light goes red. is this typical of Acekard power drain or is it time for a new battery?

That sounds about normal actually. Also, if you're using a microSDHC, that's been proven to take up more battery life.
You know what? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone needing to replace their battery before. I believe they say the typical lifespan is 500 hours but that's a gross underestimate in my opinion.
