Hi guys, I've recently found an old gba sp, and want to mod it. Actually my first mod. Assuming I'll use a flashcart (still undecided whether to get an EZ DE or an Everdrive, help me to decide pls), what is the standard battery life with an IPS screen and a 950mah battery? Can I expect at least 6-7 hour of playing before put the gba on charge?

No. Battery life depends on tons of factors.

Ips screens have different power draws. Check makhos reviews on these.

If your battery says 950mah, it's probably falsely advertised.

Both flashcards use more battery than normal gba carts.

Expect under 4 hours but test for yourself.

If it's possible to function test the hardware, do that before spending money on "mod" parts. The shoulder buttons on the SP's are not as robust as on regular GBA's, and the replacements you can buy are not good. If the shoulder buttons on the SP you got aren't working, you might want to try again, or trade it for a regular gba.

Fortunately with funnyplaying making/selling their fpga Gameboy Color mobo, I figure it's just a matter of time before a GBA version comes along.

I prefer Makho's battery mod from RetroModding.

I have a V5 IPS in my SP with this exact battery, and it runs great.
