I just recently bought a Nintendo DS, and I was wondering how much battery life is consumed by sleep mode (DS closed) especially with Pokemon Diamond. is this a high profile game as far as battery life is concerned?

A long time, believe me, maybe if it was fully charged a full day and night, maybe even more, but mine was on when it was closed for about 24 hours.
The only thing is that if you open it you won't have much time to play anymore.

Forever if you have it plugged into the wall.
Duh. I think that isn't "battery" life anymore.

I'm not so sure about the lite cause I never tried with mine but when I had a phat, I forgot it with the lid closed for, like, 2 or 3 days (it was fully charged), opened it and it was still on (red LED tho). So I'd say the consumption is minimal.

It is battery life if the power goes out.
Then it doesn't last forever.

The power wont be off forever :-)

Basically my battery life averages about 8 hours playing OPokemon Diamond, is this normal or do I need to get a new battery? (i got my DS used)

If it is a NDSL make sure its on the lowest brightness to bring up battery life.
