It might be slightly overkill, but it'd certainly wipe all traces of homebrew ever being used.Since I've never been online yet, can I restore my NAND (from before using any homebrew) and be safe?
As far as I'm aware, there's no real way to determine if you've been banned if you're not on the latest firmware, unfortunately. Maybe attempting to link a Nintendo Account on a new profile works? Is there anyway of determining if you are banned other than trying the e-shop ? I'm mainly concerened with the "Errors caused by Homebrew (Libnx/Libtrasistor/Mucking with LayeredFS) in your Error Log (Yes, even if you have Error Reporting disabled; this is the one that's caught the most people unaware thus far)"
I'm on version 4.1.0 and can't access the e-shop nor can I start Mario Kart 8 to see if I can play online; I've logged into my Nintendo account and can't seem to find any information? I haven't done anything with pirated games - but I have hooked up the switch whilst running CFW to use FTPd to transfer files; during these periods I've never played a game or opened anything other than homebrew
Lastly - thank you for the post it has really helped in understanding the issues.
Yeah, pretty much.TL;DR Buy games if we want to go online on that certain game to be safe?
Just so everyone knows, you can download and use games you have paid for on a banned Switch by installing the game through eXhop and purchasing it on the Nintendo website. You can also send the game from your PC to your Switch from the Nintendo website. I tested this with Rocket League on my banned Switch.
Against all odds, it seems to still be possible to use the eShop even if you've got a 2124-4007 error on your Switch. Not directly, of course; once you get knocked it's game over as far as using the applet itself goes. However, there are ways to fill in the usability gaps left by a system ban.
Confirmed working:
Downloading demos and applicationsRedownloading previously-owned titlesDownloading System/Application Updates
1. Go to your Nintendo Account region's eShop site (e.g. UK/Ireland eShop: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nintendo-Switch/Games/Games-1178441.html)
2. Go to the game's page and select Free Download/Download Demo
2. Go to your Account Page on your Switch (top left icon)
3. Go to User Settings -> Update Download Progress
4. Return to the Home screen and wait for the download to finish
1. Use a tool like eXhop with the Title ID of the application you want to redownload
2. Return to the Home screen and wait for the download to finish
1. Just do it like you would on a normal system, this was already known to work on banned systems anyway.
2. This doesn't even count as an eShop action, but I'm including it for completion's sake.
3. The so-called Blobfish's unsightly appearance outside its natural deep-sea habitat is caused by the massive difference in our atmosphere's pressure and its habitat's enormous pressure. This causes its body to expand massively when brought to the surface.
4. Go read one of the other instructions, there's nothing else to learn here.
WARNING: Whilst some people have reported success in redownloading past purchases and purchasing new titles, this is obviously an incredibly risky thing to do.
Something I haven't tested, nor heard of anybody having tested, is attempting a download of a free title, demo or otherwise, without any Nintendo Accounts linked to the system. This seems extremely unlikely, but it's something to think about.
If anybody attempts this, feel free to drop me a PM/Mention and state your results.
Actions known to cause ban flagging:
- Errors caused by Homebrew (Libnx/Libtransistor/Mucking with LayeredFS) in your Error Log (Yes, even if you have Error Reporting disabled; this is the one that's caught the most people unaware thus far)
- Changing your profile icon with DevMenu (What were you expecting?)
- Attempting to download titles you don't own through eXhop/BogInstaller/etc.
- Potentially: Attempting to go online with an invalid Certificate (XCI)/Ticket (LayeredFS/NSPs in the future)
- You never know when Nintendo might start checking for other things in the future! Sky's the limit!
ADDENDUM: Unfortunately, there's no way to link a Nintendo Account with an account created on a banned system, and I'm not aware of any workarounds for the linking process. Try to keep a NAND backup if you can and avoid System Formats, I guess.
Needless to say, your system is your own responsibility. I make no guarantee that these methods will continue to work in the foreseeable future, but they do work as of this thread's creation. Also, don't try to get yourself banned on purpose like I did, that's just dumb.
I wouldn't 100% recommend doing so, but it's definitely doable. Can i buy dlc and use this method?

If you lose access to your Nintendo Account's link to the console, you won't be able to use the Update Download Progress feature anymore, and should it ever be possible to redownload titles without using external tools, you'll lose access to that as well.Hey @Sgt. Lulz, can you please clarify on avoiding System Formats and why that is important?

It's not the most important of features, but it doesn't hurt to have it there.
0/10 I was really hoping to learn more about how toilets are micro biologically cleaner than other parts of the home or why global warming is one of the biggest misnomers right after the proper pronunciation of gyro.3. Think of it as pre-ordering a ban. You put in an order for one but it won't arrive in the mail until several weeks later.I recently purchased the sx os license from team xecuter im worried for a ban because i have been using nxshop however no results eshop is working fine so it appears hard to get a ban
If you're banned, you can at least still download game and system updates. If you get superbanned, you can't do even that. How is it risky if you're already banned?

Superbanning has nothing to do with having or not having an account. Superbans have occurred due to excessive CDN downloading using a console certificate. This can be abused without a Nintendo Account by using a tool such as Freeshop or a CDN downloader. As long as you don't use those, it doesn't matter whether you have a Nintendo Account or not since it is irrelevant to the primary cause of superbans.Well technically I unlinked my account before using SX Pro, in fact I don't have ANY Nintendo account on my switch and I've been using freeshop, I also haven't been super banned as you put it. I've been using freeshop since it's release. In fact if I archive the game and I try redownloadIng it again, it asks me to create an account, which I am not doing cause I know better and I can still download updates and such.
I think it more or less has to do with if you have a linked account , then they can superban you.
