Wow, I believe its time I update to a new loader. I believe my sister's Wii is using usbloader but an older version.

Hi guys, can anybody tell me wich loader supports DVD launch from external DVD Drive?

it's useless if you want to use external DVD Drive to play the games, just use a HDD instead
if you meant Movies then that's a different story, none plays movies via external DVD, you have to convert the DVD into files nd play then via MPlayer CE plugin in wiiflow or via HBC

Games? None of them that I know of.

You're both wrong. Is not pratical, tricky and probably not so useful but it can be done (and i did it, only to do "everything the wii can do") but the now outdated uLoader can boot games from an external dvd drive (and i know that a certain number of requests were made to @Cyan to add this feature to usbloader gx) and wiimc too can read dvds :)

I can confirm we got multiple requests for that support. it was asked on the issue tracker of googlecode, and is also on sourceforge. I don't know how to do it and don't have any external USB disc readers, so I never looked at that request.

Just to not being misunderstood: i was'nt asking for this feature, i wrote that thing only as a confirm that the support of external dvd drive is possible ;)

more surviving than alive.
I don't have enough time to do all I want, and sometime even lack the knowledge (I'm not a good developer, more a tweaker of existing code, it's harder to create something new)

I think you're underestimating yourself, you're doing a great job, constantly updating and improving this wonderful loader.

"best" is very subjective and the reason why this thread exist.
You can google or simply search this forum for their official threads - stickied even.

I tried using postloader, because of it's NAND capabilities, but I couldn't get it to detect real NAND games and GameCube games, no matter what I tried. I wonder if those few people using postloader have those features working?

(PS: also WiiFlow doesn't detect games. USBL GX and cfg_usb and neek2o are working fine, including emunand)

I don't know if "Full System Menu View" under USBLGX is meant to mean that it looks like the "Real" Wii menu (closer than any other loader, or even any theme I have found for cfg). That to me is a big plus.

Also, a *huge* feature of USBLGX is it has a search option to look for games. AFAIK none of the other loaders have that.

There should also be sections to cover parental control and categories - both which I know USBLGX has, but not sure about the others.

Thing I'm looking for most in a loader right now is the ability to use it without a sensor bar / pointing, for installing a wii in less traditional settings. So far I've found that WiiFlow is the best at this (only needing the sensor bar for initial setup and tweaking of settings, after that you can navigate completely without it easily), and CFG Loader is a decent second. The others all require a sensor bar to day-to-day usage in my experience, although I haven't tried post loader yet.

Do you know C++? The source for USB Loader GX, WiiFlow and CFG USB Loader are all freely available.

I did have to learn it in college but its been well over a decade since I actually compiled anything. I wouldn't even know where to start if editing these applications. I was just saying its something that could/should be added to the comparison chart.

I'm currently working on editing wiiflow's settings to get something close to what I want. It works with the D-pad and A button, which is a huge appeal to me right now. Biggest hurdle is trying to figure out how to simplify the interface between sources so that folks don't need to know or care what's a wii backup game, whats a wiiware game, what's a snes game, etc. I want everything in one "flow" ideally, but can't seem to make that happen. But that's another question for another thread. I was just suggesting something that isn't on this chart that would have helped me save time instead of trying each one. :)

USBLoaderGX has Gamecube controller support, and WiiU Pro controller support (no wiimote needed to be plugged to it).
you can of course use the Wiimote+Nunchuck or Wiimote+Classic controller(pro), without using the sensor/pointing feature.

USBLoaderGX 1269 mod3 (beta), also has WiiU Gamepad support (when launched from an injected Wii VC channel), but no USB support.
