Lets say I install this backup loader and all the things needed for it to work, and got it working. Will original Disc games still work???????????????

If you were to put a Wii game in after installing the launcher, the Wii will restart with a count down timer and when it reaches zero it will explode but the Wii disk will still be in tact.

Just kidding..Its still safe to play Wii games as well.

So after my issues with DVD+R I went out and bought some DVD-R. Same exact problem. I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try burning them on someone elses (friend or family members) DVD burner. If it works on theirs then you will know to take a look at your setup and hey at least you will have 1 game to play.

its seems very obvious now that the disc could not be read, error is related only to 1:1 copy games, its not happening with the decrypted copies!

I also get read errors on patched backups like Raving Rabbits 2, SWFU, MK,...

Raving Rabbids 2 & SWFU are both on the compatibility list as NOT WORKING from 1:1 OR patched so it isn't just you having trouble - they just aren't compatible.

My experiences

Mario party 8 (patch): EXCELENT fast load times and the sound now is good
Warioware (patch): The intro still lags but the videos ingame runs great almost perfect
Trauma center new blood (patch): same as in launcher 0.1 everithing perfect except the intro
Soul eater (patch): run as the original

Just wanted to make it clear that not only 1:1 copies do the disc read error...

i think it's worth reposting this from the blog comments:
ok, i couldn't get the 1:1 backup (metal slug anthology pal) to be read by the system menu on my ntsc wii using menu loader (including the region free hack) or menu loader clone.
so i recompiled the source of geckoos 1.07b to use ios 249, and now i can see the banner of the 1:1 backup in the menu. since it starts ios 249 when it runs, the rebooter reboots into the hacked menu with ios 249 still running.
now all we need is a menu patch to skip the update partition for decrypted discs and a patch to always use ios 249 (or whatever) when launching a game from the system menu. then i think it could be possible to use the rebooter and set an option for either decrypted or original discs.

some games like brothers in arms (decrypted) and wario: shake it (patched) don't work for me, so i might recompile to change the ios number so i can use cios_fix and the older launchers at the same time, it's not very hard to do... of course you will also need to change the ios number in the backup launcher as well of course.

great progress, hope to see more soon.

Geckoos 1.07b reloader

note: if you try to use this to launch a game, it will read it but crash. but as far as i can tell it would not offer any compatibility increase over the 1.06 version currently in use by backup launcher even if it was changed to support backups. could be wrong though, but i think the ios needs some more fixes.

Just wanted to make it clear that not only 1:1 copies do the disc read error...

While it's important to point out that not only 1:1 copies produce the "disk read error" it's equaly important to note that patching/decrypting certain games can resolve the "disk read error".

I can confirm that the copy of Monopoly NTSC (VORTEX official scene release) burned on the same medim (Verbatim DVD-R) gets the read disk error on 1:1 but is 100% playable with no read errors when decrypted. I am testing this out on an NTSC Wii with WiiGator's loader version 0.3, his cIOS and his "disk read error patch" succesfully installed. I have reproduced this 3 times using 6 DVDs burning at 4X using IMGBurn.

Thanks and respect to WiiGator, Waninkoko and the community

wait no nevermind, i just read that the correct term for decrypted is patched...

bbut how come when i patched brawl it made it much more bigger, wouldnt fit on the dvd so i forced burned it
until it ran outa space, so im worried the game will stuff up near the end of the disc mabey?
thanks

I swear I am the only person in the world right now who is having terrible luck with this stuff... I'm not sure if it's my 5 year old PC that's the problem or the shitty dynex Best buy crap brand of DVD-R's im using... I've gone through so many discs, that I'm ready to just about give this thing up...
blink.gif

The first iteration of these "backup loader/launchers" I only got one game to work, and that was somewhat laggy, but now this 0.3 stuff has got me completely frustrated. So now the game I had working doesn't work, and neither does anything else. It usually just freezes on the Loader screen saying "No SD codes found". And YES! i have tried many permutations of the options menu... Nothing seems to work...
Where did you get your files and did you follow any step by step guides on it ? (hint hint)
Have you installed the cIOS required ?

I use imgburn at 2x and I get all my files from links ive been finding around these topics about the 0.3 loader.

hello
someone have tested disaster more than launch ???
works to level 6 but after back screen on loading level 7

someone can confirm it ???

i use 1:1 backup of it

thks

I'm having a strange problem in that my burned ntsc copy of Party Games 2 loaded just fine earlier today with version 3 of wiigator but when I tried this evening it mostly fails to even recognize or load the disk. It is a nonpatched copy. It sometimes will load the disk and act like it's going to load but hangs. I can hear it reading but it just sits there. Btw, I can load an ntsc copy off Mario Kart Wii with no problems. Any ideas?

anyone?

Sounds like a bad burn to me.

when using menu loader ios249 i get disc error; power off, for ff chocobo. any one else having the same problem? oh yah i have latest read-error cios fix wiigator style.
The menu loader doesn't load backups. It just shows it on menu. You can't boot them.

Funny I can actually boot games 1:1 from disc channel using menu loader

If you're being truthful, does it read it slow, OK, or like a normal wii disc?

Its to me bascially loads like a normal wii disc

You can't load them from the disk channel, or not yet at least, Nice try,

You can get the backup loader wad, and use it on the system menu, but that isnt considered the disk channel.
