However I have a problem:
I've got a UK PAL Wii and I can get the backup loader working fine, except for one problem- when loading any US games (tried Wii music and Fire Emblem) the picture is always tinted red. I've tried all the different video options and differnt combinations but either the game won't work or it will be tinted in redThe only thing I think it may be is that i've using a RGB scart lead to connect my Wii to the TV, and unless I'm mistaken the US machines can't output in RGB (someone correct me if i'm wrong) so i believe it could have something to do with that?![]()
All and any help would be much appriciated, and if i am correct about the RGB thing any chance of a fix/option for RGB in any future releases?
Ive heard of others having red tint with the RGB cable so i think that you may be correct with that - have you tried using the scart and see if it works with that ?

quim69 said:That isn't true, I think you maybe a little confused. in PAL and NTSC lands TV's have been 4:3 (that is for every 4 units (inches/cm/whatever) wide they are 3 units high). For the past 18 years in europe (15 years for the usa) there have also been "widescreen" 16:9 TV's - 16 units wide by 9 units high. PAL and NTSC both use around the same sizes - 21", 25", 28-29", 33", 42", 50", 70" etc.dkelley said:Not sure if people know this, but before widescreen came along PAL tvs are actually a different shape from NTSC tvs. taller, more square than NTSC.
PAL and NTSC are different colour encoding systems - virtually all euro countries also 576i which is a higher resolution than NTSC (at a lower frequency).
Most european TV's made in the past 15+ years and most US TV's made in the past 5years will playback both PAL and NTSC without problems.
Virtually all PAL games will work on a NTSC wii without problems. Some peoples TV however may not display it (especially if they are using composite video cables rather than RGB SCART or YPbPr component). The same is true of NTSC games on PAL consoles (with the disadvantage of red tint if using RGB cables :/ ).
If your NTSC TV doesn't work in PAL (or vice versa) you can always try the Force NTSC option - but many games won't run unless in their native video mode.
Tetris and the other take up minimal space and its stated in the How to that these are not required files for the install, but are extras - it lets people know that other things can be installed which most will not be able to figure out. Seriously though , thaking these out will not reduce the filezise at all and they can be removed by deleting from the SD card - they are named in apps - even deleting them teaches you something thats handy to know.cdreams said:First, can someone take out all the unnecessary files like games of Doom and stuff like that, as they add folders and files and just make it confusing when you have to manage your sd card. So all that is left is the essential files to get this working.
Different people have different setups - but if you put all of the files onto the SD card in the folder that says PUT ONTO SD CARD you then have all the files you need for all the different setups
I know this may sound a little demanding but it really is not meant to. I would just like things clarified for myself and others and so that we are all using the best combinations. If we then want to add games like tetris or whatever we can, but the main files will be there and don't need modified every day or so because somebody's released version CIOS_rev_247_blah blah blah. You know what I mean.cdreams said:Second, can someone sort out exactly what files do what and which ones are essential and put them in the folders they need to be in, so all I would have to do is copy to my SD card and put in my Wii. I know this has been done to some extent, but after reading the posts and how some people are using modified IOS247 and 249 files, it's just getting complicated. I don't know what channel or files I NEED to use.
The How To should tell you all you need to do step by step in order to get everything working - almost all options are covered in it if you get the most recent zip its in a HTML format with some images of the loader and the differences to make life easier for people.
You obviously didnt download the latest zip in my signature - thats already donecdreams said:So like I said, if someone could made the best combination of files that can be copied directly onto an SD card with no modification, then that would be great. Then any unsure users could downgrade their Wii to say 3.2U and then apply the CIOS and the Backup Loader Channel.
If you wanted the latest combination of files with no modifications then you wouldnt have the downgrade files in there with it.
QUOTE(cdreams @ Nov 3 2008, 06:33 PM) Can the channel be made clear to what version and type it is on the channel image so I know without having to load up to check.

cdreams said:djtaz, I have just downloaded your new zip file so working on that now and going through the process. However I still think that it's a little unclear when you say we have different setups, as in what, USA, Japan and European Wiis. What else is really that different?
I don't know anything with regards to programming so I am ignorant when it comes to this so correct me if I am wrong. However I think you have two setups that you add these files to, if someone has the homebrew channel installed and can do this then have the files for that, if they need to downgrade then so be it and include any software with explanations how to use it fully.
For instance, the ATD, isn't clear at all. I go into the section for system IOS and you can see 247 and 249, but I also see about another 15, what are they and could I delete them all or what, it's not clear and for someone like myself, having these explained in lamens terms is essential.
Like I said I have just wasted literally 4-5 hours trying to get James Bond QOS working to no avail trying different files and settings, despite saying on the wiki it works.
cdreams said:Ok cheers for the help guys, but I have decided to install as suggested. As I say it all works for me despite the occasional disc read error on some games. I think the problem isn't that it's hard to do, just that there is so many threads and files to sort through. Maybe the extra threads can be deleted and a single thread with just the current guide to clarify things a little more.
The biggest problem is I think, is that most of you guys seem to be coders to some degree and I am not. So for me it's like your explaining things in coding terms and expect me to know what IOS's are and stuff. I know it isn't hard to work out but when your switching things back and forward and installing things, then it does tend to confuse.
Like I said earlier though, I appreciate everything you guys have done and are doing to help people out here, so again thank you so much.
Just out of curiousity, has anyone got James Bond QOS working or is it an error, because no matter what I try I can't get it to work, just get the disc read error and to turn off system???

The problem isnt that there is to much information or too many threads. The problem is that no one wants to take the time to read or understand what it is they are doing. They want to click and go and not have to think or understand anything. Yes there are alot of different files and possible installs. Some versions are autoloading others are manual load. Some have version 1 some have version 3. If you want the simplest loader only install check wiigators blog which only provides those files. if you want a solution for just about any situation look in djtaz's signature and read some instructions, he was nice enough to condense all the info in those threads into one place The loader is a BETA, hence several games wont work no matter what. QOS is one of these. I understand now why so many people where against a public beta test. Anyone else noticed that all the alpha testers have gone into hididng, so have the private beta testers, and there hasnt been any real new news (minus people re-doing channels and one joke of a modded loader) since the read retry ios.
For those who still care about progress keep testing those games no ones gotten to yet and update that wiki. Wiigator is working on the games that dont run, and the more info we have about these the easier it will be to find the underlying problem.
Sorry for the ramble. Ready for the board to get back to some semblance of progress versus the whining complaining board we have now.
