Gaming Backing up files to PC

sold my PS3 few months ago and i have save files and EXPORT folder on my USB Flash.

In export folder,there is backup folder,with archive.dat files.

Can i just put that whole folder on my PC and let it be there until i get new ps3 and transfer it back?

I'm not sure if those backups can be imported on to another PS3. Usually when people move files between PS3 they use transfer utility (which requires an Ethernet cable between both PS3).
