So I purchased the Animal Crossing New Leaf game cartridge so I could play it on my 3DS XL and record it for my youtube channel on my 3DS (which has a capture card) Ever since one of my games got corrupted I have always been extra careful with my game cards. I bought a ds game backup device and just recently I bought a Save Dongle to back up animal crossing new leaf. I was very annoyed to find out it wouldn't back it up. So this is my question. Is there a way to back up Animal Crossing New Leaf's game cart but keep the data on the cartridge so I can play it between my 2 3ds's?

not sure if you can back-up the save
there maybe some kind of protection with a hidden ids(one on the cart and one in the 3ds system memory) that if they do not match the save will not load

I'm not talking about cheating items in to the game. I am talking about if the game ever gets damaged I can buy a new one and load the data in

the rom will never get corrupted its in a ROM = Read Only Memory

He isn't talking about the actual game data, he means the cartridge. I'm not sure if there is a way to extract the saves from a newer game such as this, let alone restoring said save. I believe (And do correct me if I'm wrong.) newer games use some kind of new save that can't be dumped as of yet.

Even if you somehow managed to back-up your save (Which is currently not possible anyway), you wouldn't be able to use it. Some have tested via the Digital version that if you try to restore your old save, it would not work because the save id wouldn't match with the game's current id for the save file it last checked (Or something like that).

Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it.

It can act as a swap drive but that isn't more RAM, it's slooow.
