This news is getting old and really can be boiled down to, stupid person/people caused baby's death, now is blaming something on it.

It's fucking nothing to do with videogames whatsoever.
Stupid fucking news reports.
Title might as well say:
"Baby dies while man breathes oxygen."
or
"Man is there and baby dies."

So did he hit the child in the liver with the controller? It did say he was holding the child while playing...

The whole report don't make all that much sense. Did the baby get internal bleeding from the damaged ribs? or the blunt hit to the liver?

Whichever, it's still not the video games fault. It's the fathers fault obviously. He didn't pay attention to his own infant. At 5months you have to pay attention to them more often. The news trying to blame video games LoL. Would it not be the same if he was straightening his hair with an iron comb?

It's just like when all the assholes blame guns for the actions of criminals people. Why don't we ban water because thousands of people drown every year.

Laws are for law abiding citizens anyway. Put a ban on guns, and the people that have no intention of obeying will be the one with guns.

What the person was doing while neglecting their child is largely irrelevant. It's all part of the media's ongoing conspiracy to vilify videogames.

This. Cases of child abuse happen all the time, but the media only seems to care when video games are involved.

I was playing GBC for about an hour today. Do you have any idea how many babies died in that amount of time?

Also, this whole "Video Games = Dying Kids" thing is getting really old really fast.

You guys are reading this wrong. The baby suffered the injuries weeks before. This article doesn't show that the man had anything to do with the injury. He only neglected to see that there was something wrong with the baby while he held him.

I'm guessing that's a man with totally no respect for other people, not even for his kid.

There were additional injuries that were recent. Besides how could you not notice 2 week old injuries?!

If they're internal injuries, like the article said they were, you can very easily not notice them.

Why didn't it's parents notice the baby crying more if these injuries were weeks old?

Also:
QUOTE
During that 45 minute interval, it seems the baby suffered a blunt-force injury to the liver, which fractured four ribs and severed it, causing internal bleeding. According to Stuff.co.nz, police say the injury was most likely caused by it being crushed against the baby's spine, resulting in severe pain, massive shock and loss of consciousness. The infant vomited all over Hapuku's shoulder.

After seeing her baby's pale face, Reti and Hapuku rushed the child to the hospital, where doctors were unable to revive the child. The autospy report says the baby died within minutes from the injuries. What's more, the baby was also suffering from rib fractures that were estimated to be weeks old.

I find the article to be a little suspicious as well. Were the rib fractures recent or not? Was it the direct cause of trauma recently or not?

Sony, you'd better call a Priest. You have been cursed this generation.

As for the piece of shit in this article. I hope he gets the strongest punishment allowed by the law.
