So, I've seen their first look trailer, and i am don't sure about that this will be popular
Even when it's compared to the system that already on the market, switch 2 is actually
kinda lacks any new features.
For Example, Steam Deck:
A portable(hm, it's not portable as it looks) handheld system, that can be connected to the TV/Monitor, via hub. That allows to play games on it with the controller.
But the switch(AFAIK), was the first system that made that gimmick more popular to consumers, and better because it's don't required people to buy more controllers.
Okay, Steam Deck costs a lot. If we needed only a something that costs LESS, there's a market for a cheap emulation based consoles. They offer a way to connect a cheap system to the HDMI port and allow the same trick, but only they don't sometimes even require a controller. Because your console - is controller.
The problem is if we compare that emulation based systems, that is actually a problem. This guys don't have any homebrew software(AFAIK), so you will be forced to play only games and use software that designed for Oldschool hardware.
So,if you need to play Modern new games - you need Steam Deck. Retro Games - emulation based handhelds. Switch in a situation, that he has a lot of ports of modern games, but it's actually not Hi-End Device, so the ports are graphically inferior on PCs.
The switch 2 more likely have a modern games. Also, people gonna be waiting that someone will hack it up. And this means - the Switch may lack homebrews for a while.
If someone want to play a games on the start, they`ll be playing old ports that don't use full power of the switch 2. Also, you will have option to play old games from subscribtion based service.
So, Let's get back to the topic. I have a question(Actually it's in the thread title),
if we have switch already, wanting to play some old or modern games(not both), and we have some alternatives, why we should even buy a switch 2?
The gimmick that nintendo presented is already in some handhelds. A variation, but some devices have some sort of it.
The modern gamer will probably pick up Steam Deck. The Retro gamers, as i see addicted to the emulator handheld consoles(I don't love and even own one of this things,so i am not calling this retro handhelds.I have a retro handheld, but it's N3DS), and the switch 1.If you just wanted to play the Nintendo switch online's old games, that don't be on switch 2, why not just a buy a Steam Deck, or a emulator based handheld?
And if you need a system that will play switch games, you will probably buy a steam deck and emulate it.
They have a same gimmick, same games via emulator, so once again - referring to the threads name.
What are you guys think about my thoughts about the new switch?
