Hacking Aqua blue and Flame red 3ds firmware

I know this is probably a redundant thread but I just wanted to get other people's opinions and experiences.
These 2 models were discontinued in 2012 so its pretty much guaranteed that it will be 4.5 or less right? Im buying it on Amazon so I have no way of checking for the serial or box.

Yeah, it's pretty much guaranteed. Either 1.X or 2.X will be on it.

I bought a Aqua Blue.
Firmware: 4.3.0U

It cant always be guaranteed it all depends on whether it has been updated or not, unless you can find it brand new with the correct serial numbers on the box never been touched. It could always been taken out the box and updated. You really need to find out direct to be sure.

My Aqua Blue was 4.4.

Just got my aqua blue(non xl) from amazon. I bought it new so everything was still sealed. Box says 2011 and CW12331698 9 came with 2.2.
Used new super mario bros 2 to update to 4.1 and now im just waiting for my gateway to come.
