Hacking Question Anyone installed nsp of a game already played on cartridge?

Does it seamlessly take over the icon and the save game? I guess the OS should be set up for this in case someone buys a game digitally that they've previously played on cart.

Other option would be backing up the save, deleting the game from the system and installing from scratch, but hopefully you don't need to do that?


E: FWIW I'm talking about a real cartridge, not an xci, tho might not make a difference.

Can confirm there is a seamless transition, I did it this morning with SMO... from using a genuine cart to NSP and all went well with the save game intact :)

Sorry I’m late, It happens exactly like you have described. Installing a cartridge game via NSP just replaces the icon and removes the need for a cartridge, and all save data is already there because the save files are not specific to version of the game (in terms of cartridge vs digital). I’ve tested with a physical and a nsp version of Mario tennis aces.
