When I first checked it, it said it was very risky to try without a hardmod, but now it says

I'd just contact a professional here if things go wrong since I've never even tried soldering! What do you say, should we try it?

The first guide is the right one. You could use that second one but remember that you are trusting the fate of your 3DS to someone else's external program. I did it manually, but if someone reports that the automatic one works then go ahead and use that.

I've istalled it on an o3ds xl wihtout any issues. Also the entire process is pretty linear.

Yeah 2 hours seems right. Make sure you have a lot of time. You don't want to leave and come back. You want to be completely focused on getting that OTP!

Also use the decrypt9 linked in the guide I was using an old one and it didn't have all the options lol I had to restart it when I did it

If you have a N3ds you'll have about 8gb of backups all for a 256kb file lol fun times

Yep that's the gist of it. Good luck with the downgrade. Even with knowing it's hard it brick, it's stresful as heck.

It worked for me. I downgraded and installed arm9 just a few hours ago.

I used Windows 10 on VMWare Fusion and it worked fine. Just don't try running anything through Wine wrapper or something like that.
