I bricked, but it was out of my own stupidity, although my second attempt on my o3ds proved to be successful.

Whats the advantage of Arm9loaderhax over menuhax?
Also can someone link me to an Arm9loaderhax tutorial?

Whats the advantage of Arm9loaderhax over menuhax?
  1. MUCH faster boot time (10 seconds as compared to about 25)
  2. Foolproof brick protection
  3. Ability to run a sysNAND that can be updated to the newest firmware (which is also completely future-proof)
  4. Ability to exit in and out of System Settings without worrying about which NAND you're going to be in
  5. Ability to easily run GBA, DSi, and reboot-necessary games

Quicker boot, no returning to bootmanager after exiting system settings

Will you be able to use 9.2 emulators like the ones for PS1 on 10.6?

Hardmods only cost as much as a new 3DS game, and it's pretty difficult to end up bricked if you follow the guide.
Thanks, I think I feel confident enough already lol. It's this guide right?
When I first checked it, it said it was very risky to try without a hardmod, but now it says
The method for dumping the OTP without a hardmod (relatively) safely was originally created by me and was influenced by conversations with AHP_Person, Normmatt, and Vappy. The guide was based off my own personal notes you can see here and was created from start to finish in about 14 days.
So I think I'll give it a go... :P
Same, I suck at soldering
I'd just contact a professional here if things go wrong since I've never even tried soldering! What do you say, should we try it?

Oh btw, should I use this guide as well? I still need to do some reading up on the topic, so sorry for the many questions!

All these replies make me want to do this, but I'm scared that I'll have to get a hardmod if something goes wrong!
Try it! It's awesome! The process is almost as good as it'll get. Nowadays, I see only like 1 or 2 people brick a week and usually it's an accident on their part. I'm pretty sure there's something being developed called OTPhelper which may improve the process even more, but in all honesty, you should have nothing to worry about. Plus if you do need to get a hardmod then you'll never have to worry about a brick again, unless it's a permabrick, but no end user afaik has gotten one of those.
