Hi I just wondered it there was any loaders using no cIOSes, only regular ones?

That would be nice, only having two thing to maintain, HBC and a loader.

    Thanks!

I would say that's NOT possible, IOS58 only has usb access, but no patch inside that the game loads from usb, this is why you will need a cIOS everytime. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

It's technically possible with sneek. But if it's compatible with IOS58, i don't know.

PS: And that would require to have BootMii IOS installed too

As I recall, Sorge's UniiLoader ran straight off of regular IOS's. However, upon posting it, he was shot down by multiple people for not providing the source and hence the removal of it. Good luck trying to find a copy of it.

Any loader that did so would have to patch the clean IOS on the fly in memory somehow in order to run the backups off USB. You would still be running custom code anyways. Installing cIOS is more practical and in a sense more safer as the custom code is pre-integrated into the IOS base. Patching on the fly can be a minefield, I would hate to think of all the sanity checks.....

I found a copy but the date said it was posted on 2009. It was version 57 of UniiLoader.

While it is the same loader, it didn't use Sorge's new developments with the USB loader.

Here is the thread it was on: http://gbatemp.net/t256507-uniiloader

Though if you have good enough Google-Fu, you can still find it on another forum.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that version still requires a cIOS.
After all, a cIOS IS in the requirements to run the app.

The recent release of UniiLoader was originally named "UniiLoader_HBC.zip" or "UniiLoader_Channel.zip," and has a version number of 0.97.

If anyone's looking for the MediaFire links, try checking search engine caches. [IMG]

There are 3 approaches to launch dvd games from usb(and sd):
    1) old softmod - cIOS. There are many incompatible games due to IOS reloading, or incompatible IOS versions. Patched games require patched IOSes, while some new games refuse to work on patched IOSes.
    2) new softmod - through nand emulation. Most (if not all) problems related to cIOS are absent here.
    3) modern modchips allowing to emulate DVD. Wode, WiiKey Fusion, SunDriver.

Although, new UniiLoader (starting from 0.9x) doesn't use cIOS, it requires NAND emulation or Wode to load games from USB/SD.
