I'm wondering if theres any slot-2 devices that don't use an SRAM battery for saving? I would ideally like to purchase something that you don't have to change the battery out every couple of years....

As far as I know, all GBA expansion carts use SRAM (volatile memory) to store saves, so they all require a battery. You might be able to find a more general-purpose slot2 device that can store the save to a microSD or internal NAND flash memory, but it would cost a lot more than a few batteries. The EZ 3in1 has internal NOR flash memory, but I'm guessing that's far too slow to store save files to.

The original SC-CF and SC-SD don't have battery backed ram and relied on a button combo to be pressed to write the sram to mem card. But they are poor GBA carts, so forget it.

To add to sidneyyoung a lot of cards with good GBA compatibility feature soft reset and backups. Resoldering a battery is about as easy as soldering gets though (wire to wire is the only thing easier).

i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect

Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.+1
