Are you on crack? None of the three supposed RPGs for the PSP are evenly remotely good...

[EDIT]
Unless you mean running PSX RPGs on the PSP, and others under other emulators, e.g. SNES, etc.

The native RPGs for PSP are pretty pathetic...
[/EDIT]
The PSP does have more 'generic' JRPGs, while the DS tends to have more original ones. I mean, if you look at the games listed here, there are very few typical RPGs... TWEWY is obviously its own thing, DQM:J is a monster-collecting game under its hood, Partners in Time is original, Etrian Odyssey, Shiren the Wanderer, and Izuna are "traditional" for different traditions... and most of the relatively generic JRPGs that we do have either aren't that great (Lunar: Dragon Song, anyone?) or are remakes.

By comparison, the PSP has several generic RPGs that wouldn't be at all out of place on a home console. Call it the Golden Sun effect: Some people like playing types of games they're used to, even if (taken outside the context of a handheld, and compared to the rest of their genre) they're not very good.

(Also, while it's a strategy-RPG, that Joan of Arc game was supposedly pretty good. I mean, it's a strategy RPG. Where you play Joan of Arc. How can that fail?)

Lol, who's on crack here? Take a look at this list: http://www.tlrgames.com/psprpgs/PSPrpgs.html

Now compare it to the three non-Japanese semi-RPG on DS. Uh hum, thought so...

ALL those rpg's are japanese RPGs for the psp! What is your deal. Fanboyism went out of style in the 1860s you know.
blade dancer is the worst game ever, legend of heroes is a port, not a psp game really, nor any of its sequels. Most of those other games are action games that I don't consider to be RPG's at all (like those xmen games). FFTactics is a ps1 game, disgaea is a ps2 port, popolocrois is a port, tales of eternia is a ps1 game, valkyrie profile is a ps1 game, ys is a ps2 port, breath of fire is a ps1 game, ff 1 and 2 are ports, riviera was a gba game

, phantasy star is a port, yggdra union is a gba port, star ocean is a ps1 port, ETCETERA.
There are very few good psp games (and I have a psp), and yes a few good rpgs. But it's not an original rpg machine.
And non-japanese rpgs? how about like.. 2?
