i worry about disk problems with my wbfs drive, and also about defragmentation as i add and delete games. If a mac so even if there was a pc program to sort out disc problems it'd be no use to me...

has anyone looked at writing a wbfs disc tools program so we could use the wii to run checks on wbfs drives and check for fragmentation and even defragment?

There is no need for a WBFS defragmentation:
In terms of NTFS/FAT/ext2 a WBFS is never really fragmented.

can you explain that? as in my disc is pretty full and im deleting games and replacing them? why would there be no fragmentation?

There is fragmentation. But unless you delete all your games and re-add them there is no way of defragmenting WBFS.
Your best bet would be to use FAT32.

but if there is fragmentation, why is there no way of defragmentation? Do you mean there is something inherently different about wbfs or just that no one has written a defragmenter?

cant switch to FAT32 as my drive is already full of wii games. And anyway theres no way either of defragmenting / fixing problems on a fat32 drive either on a mac.

Have you noticed there is no way of editing the size of your WBFS partition either? It's not because it's impossible, it's because WBFS is very unique and currently no partitioning programs (let alone a defragmenter) know what the hell WBFS is and won't recognize it.

A WBFS fragment has a minimum 8MB as a 500G drive. Mostly the fragments are >30MB. And such large fragments are no problematic.

In FAT we speak about 8-32kb fragments. Do you see then difference?
