Hacking Animal Crossing Save Conversion Help!

Hey, I converted an Animal Crossing save to be compatible with my CycloDs Evo using the R4 converter. Saves for all other games work but the one for Animal Crossing doesn't read. I don't want to start a new game. Do I need to have the same rom used for the Supercard for it to work?
