So...I downloaded the update, but haven't actually booted my game up. Is it safe to delete said update so I can edit the save file first?

It's safe, since the game doesn't have any actual player data stored on the update. ( player data as in triggered the Isabelle cutscene, MEOW tutorial, etc. )
Just backup the save before you start.

I havent updated yet but when I use the editor to move building and save, the buildings have not moved, they used to, have something changed in editor updates and im doing something wrong?

Is that the only thing not working? Sounds silly, but are you sure you're saving a restoring the right save dump?

Yes the only thing not working and ive made sure three times thats its been done right but its still the same, i even made other small changes to the land to make sure it was saveing over

That guide was probably written before the update. The offsets are different now and also the checksums will be written differently too. You're going to have to wait until we figure this all out.
I edited a save file from before the update, and it still says it's corrupted when i load it (with the update, but the save isn't updated so it shouldnt matter. Loading it unmodified bring up the whole "Welcome to the updated version" thing)

btw Marc (if you wanna add these links to the editor)

some values or anyone else who's interested, here are some value references. I noticed you have a ? next the FACE value, so here are some other img links that people may find useful.

Finally, I recovered my old ACNL HEX EDIT spreadsheet from back in the day when I was in the scene. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mhEyDcc76wNVrIS6qsx_bzK2lP5cBmCxiVeQFezTjpU/edit?usp=sharing

The Master table has some changable values your editor (Marc) is missing such as TPC data, house exterior data, and Villager personalities (yes, they can be set to something besides default). I understand that garden_plus.dat may not have the data in the same place, but perhaps you can cross reference the data from garden.dat to garden_plus.dat and implement those features :D

If I had a better way to help other than "hey do this for me" I would, but unfortunately, I'm not a code-guy. Regardless of when/if you get around to this, thank you for all the hard work you've already put in and thank you to everyone who was in the early ACNL hacking scene for helping find all the values we have today.

thx but... how i can delete the update in the system settings?
As I said, you have to delete it in system settings. Then go to data management > nintendo 3ds > downloadable content, find the update and delete it.
Also, this thread is about the save editor. Let's keep it on topic!

I.. didn't realise this was in the editor.
All is good now.

Can anyone help datamining the new item list and villager list?

Do you still need this? I've had the update unpacked since it went live and only now have time to take a look at it. The most I could do is pass along the msbt files to you to get the names.
