I have:
D2E Wii
3.3U
WiiKey 2 + WiiClip, version 1.2, read at 3X, block all updates
Verbatim DVD-R, burn at 2.4X
Animal Crossing ISO, scrubbed
I DO NOT have the Homebrew Channel, and I have no access to Zelda Twilight Princess at the moment

When I start it up, I get the icon and everything, but it comes to the dreaded black screen.

I downloaded the IOS patcher version 1.1, and dragged the ISO onto the EXE file. I put in version 30 for the IOS. Now what? Just burn the ISO again?

hm...
I did that, but it doesn't seem to work.

After selecting the Disc Channel, it gives me an Error Code.

Try brick blocking the iso.

I know you have the wiikey update blocker enabled, but that may be the cause. For reference, I have 3.2J, Wiikey v1 1.9s, and a scrubbed, brickblocked AC:CF ISO burnt to a Verbatim +R booktyped to -Rom, at 4x speed.

I don't have the HBC.
Will brick-blocking it and disabling the WiiKey 2 blocker work?

Nope, because your Wii lacks IOS38, which is required in order to make ACCF runs.

You can use WAD installer via Twilight Hack, and then install IOS38 from it. You won't have to do anything else after that.

What about Super Paper Mario?
For me, it tells me that an error has occured.
I can't even get to the disc channel after I insert the disc.
The black error screen comes up immediately.

If I update to 3.4, can I play the games?

i think you'll find that the scrubbed release has been brickblocked...

the game requires an update partition to be active before it will boot

try this....(confirmed to work!)

use wii update manager to replace update with a safe - previously used - update from your region
(the wii will then pass over installing the update and boot the game)

*the game will then boot just fine on ios30....*

Black Screen? Most of the time it's about playing PAL games on NTSC TV. I've got my IOS's all updated with Dop-Mii, and yet still cannot play these PAL games. I've yet to figure out a way, perhaps buy a PAL-enabled LCD display may be the best solution, or find an adapter, if there is one.

Regarding Animal Crossing:City Folk, the PAL version did not work for me no matter what, although I do hear the initial music when selecting it in CFG USB Loader, it would give me a blank screen when forced to NTSC is selected. But if you run it in PAL 50 or game default PAL mode, you can see it flickers and load ok, except for the PAL display is not very watchable. The NTSC worked for me, however, no problem displaying it.
