I bought two Switch Lite clone chips from Aliexpress. I assume they are based on the Pico fly and not real HW flys. Should I be able to update the firmware with the one from rehius?

Should I Just hold the boot button on the board, plug it into my PC, drag and drop the firmware.uf2 file and that's it? Or should I try it first with whatever firmware that came with it?

Also, should I only use the black flex cable and not use the yellow flex?

I believe you just plug it into the PC and the device will open a window, drop the uf2 file onto the RP2040 (LED's will flash for a second). Disconnect, install ribbon flex cables, and you will need the yellow one as well for the lite install... unless install has changed since I've done one (9mths since my last install).

Most things I'd read said the yellow flex was the reason a lot of installs didn't work and its better to run wire straight from the chip to the motherboard. It might not be the case, if the ribbon worked for you, I might try it first.

I've never done an install before but I think my skills are up to the task, as I did get a RGH3 Corona Xbox 360 install on the first try.

Do you have any high res photos of your install on a Lite that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks for all the help!
exactly like that!
Mainly, I wanted to be sure it's the right firmware for the chip, considering it's a Chinese knockoff.

You could run wire rather than use the supplied flex ribbon cable. Not sure if you took a look at the points you're soldering to, but they're a lot smaller than Xbox 360 points.

Route your wires howevs you like, but the points on the flex ribbon cable are mostly all labeled... I've never installed without the ribbon cable (no pics), and I've done dozens prior to stopping. I suggest getting a multimeter if you don't already have one.
