so, what about we define a date to do those updates? do you need help?

i agree with your points, the wiki is already friendly, i didn't say the opposite.

i made most of the changes last night with vatoloco.

all thats left is to read through the FAQ, update it, and take out anything that no longer applies. i have to talk to norm about a few things to make sure they have beeen fixed/updated. i'll talk to him as soon as i can get then adjust the FAQ. anyone can add 3DS firmware information to the FAQ and probably mention that the rpg and ak2/2.1 will not work on the 3ds and can not be updated for the 3ds.

the rom compatibility article is out of date, and i'm not sure it is needed any longer. it would probably be fine to just stop linking to it. i'm not sure if we should delete it. we could always leave it for now and just put info at the top that it is out of date, no longer updated, that these type of fixes are no longer needed, etc.

the firmware update is still relative, even if the revision numbers have changed. that is still the way you do it. it should be updated, tk_saturn is no longer that active, so someone else would need to update it.

the clones article is transposed into the main article, so any changes made to it will be adjusted in the FAQ of the akaio article. it could be updated to talk about some of the new clones which have been found. trying to compile a full list of clones was something they were doing at akaio.net and it didn't get very far. users just don't help as much as everyone expects and the work falls to 1 or 2 people who probably don't have the time to do the research, track down samples, talk with users and get photos, etc.

we shouldn't, i think that the article will still be of some use. but we can sure stop linking it in the AKAIO article.

the firmware update article should be very updated as of 1.4.2 firmware. i guess we must add information about the new handhelds pre-updated, of course about the firmware and filenames itself, and organize the page. it even has old ShopTemp links.

i was thinking specifically adding a note about R4i Ultra.

i updated the firmware part of the FAQ to discuss 1.4.3 and made some other updates to it so it reads a bit better, is more organized, etc. i added a bit to the acekard hardware FAQ about the icons and changing the icons, as these questions are asked frequently.

i made a post asking for icon info for the different updates. please add info if you have it.

- updated some of the 1.8.7 links to 1.8.8.
- added a link to the CMP cheat database and made notes that the other 2 links are now no longer updated.
- changed the link in the "cheats" section from the gbatemp database (which is no longer updated) to the CMP site.

AW, i sent you a pm about the compatibility ROM article. what can we do with it, as the bug reports section in AKAIO forum is way more effective?

and then i remembered of this article: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Updating_to_FW1.4

can we update and add it to the FAQ section (*refer to this tutorial for updating and blah blah*)?

edit - updated the crappy images. a lot better now. can we reposition those too?

i think putting something after the compatibility link like (no longer updated) would be the right thing to do. i hate changing the history of akaio and that link is part of the history. what do you think about that? in the wiki there is a link about reporting gba roms that aren't working but i think perhaps that should be changed to the akaio bug tracker forum.

that firmware update article is WAY out of date. i'll see if i can't get it updated tomorrow.

that's okay. and we can always use it anyway for GBA ROMs and put a link to AKAIO bug report section in the NDS part of the article, maybe explaining how to report a bug and things to do before complaining about something not working - again. as the mediawiki page system is revertible, no way the actual content will be lost.

the firmware update is very useful but it is outdated. as long as you update it, we can always link it to the FAQs section. and of course i'll be translating it.

http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Updating_to_FW1.4

i rewrote it. added updated info. and stuff.

i'm not sure it is 100% correct. i'm not an acekard update expert. someone read it over and fix any of the flashing information such as which file to use on the dsi, what the dsl only file does, etc.

i am going to get the wiki article renamed to "Updating the AK2i Bootloader" or something. can't figure out how to do that on my own, i'm assuming i need different permissions. -=P

once we are sure it is 100% correct and after it has had a title change, let us be sure its linked to the akaio wiki article.

i made some changes to organize the article. now i think it's okay, i read it all and didn't find any mistakes.

you can always create another page and erase all the stuff in the old.

- the article has been renamed: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Updating_the_AK2i_Bootloader
- a link to the article was updated in the links section and the firmware flashing part of the FAQ

i'm still not sure what to do with the compatibility article. i'll think more about it later.

as the first phrase says - "This page is a starting point for addressing any game issues you might encounter." - we can always transform this into a 'how-to-report-bugs' page.

i think we could add this to common fixes: http://www.akaio.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5

erase the DMA mode stuff, as it is not used anymore, and give more information to GBA section, because the GBA scene is complete when we talk about ROMs. nobody will test 2811 ROMs, but we can give it a try with common problematic games like Metroid and Pokémon.

@stenny. I genuinely appreciate you wanting to make the ak cart pics at the wiki look better, but (no offense) the ones you uploaded weren't much of an improvement=P
...but it motivated me to go on an image search to further update 'em, cuz mine were pretty damn grainy.
Anyhow, fixed 'em up, and they look hella better now =)

which ones? because the pics in AKAIO's page were awful.
Well, this is the akaio wiki thread, so I wonder which ones im talking about. Lemme reiterate.
As I already stated the cart pics that were at the wiki were grainy (yes, i agree awful), the ones that you replaced them with were sub-par as well.
I made better ones.
...and I updated the the Adv.EvoR pic to 1.8.8

http://wiki.gbatemp.net/w/images/archive/d...52!Ak22.jpg vs http://wiki.gbatemp.net/w/images/archive/d...00!Ak22.jpg

you sure they're almost the same? because as for me, in the AKAIO Wiki my images continue to show as if they were not changed.
Yes, I'm sure.

and by all means, if you can find better images, and make them all match, with uniform size, squared up and such, go for it. Just make sure its an improvement.

press CTRL + F5 which will reload the page by downloading all the files again. you are probably loading the page from your cache, which has the old images stored.

@vato: those images look a lot better. the 2i image is a tiny bit washed out but it is much better quality.
