when i first made that statement it was clear that acekard had asked for akaio to support the r4 ultra. fastfoward a week, i've been told that was a 1 off build and that there are no future plans to support. so that information was correct at one point and no longer is. that is the issue with older posts, users can read them as up-to-the-date information. in this hobby stuff changes really quick, i'm sure you know that. also you can note that i used the word "should."

added some info at the top of the wiki as warnings for the 1.8.2 issues and the fake 1.8.3 release.
added a bit at the bottom in the faq about getting 512mb roms working with the new ap routine.
updated the 1.8.5 links (i think i got them all).

the dma mode section needs to be updated as 1.8.5 no longer has the same options. if no one does that i'll fix it up tomorrow.

when 1.8.6 comes out no one will remember that 1.8.5 had a second compatibility build for crappy sd cards as those changes will be incorporated. i don't think we need that info at this point, but if you want to add something to the FAQ or a description in the links (download) section of the wiki -- go ahead =)

i just updated the dma section for 1.8.5, so thats done!

TK_Saturn: is there a way to "edit" the entire article at once (with your formatting changes) so that i can copy/paste the full article for back-up? when i try now i get most of the article except for the {{extended content}}. i could just grab it all in sections and save it to a txt file but its almost 2am and i'm being impatient =P.

I'll add information on 1.8.5a, but feel free to remove it as soon as AKAIO 1.8.6 comes out.

EDIT: I've added some basic information on what 1.8.5a does and why it was built in the AKAIO section of the FAQ. Feel free to elaborate/move/whatever.

I'm willing to fully translate the entire Wiki to brazilian portuguese (pt-BR).

do I need any kind of permission?

will the translation stay in a separate link like Spanish and Japanese pages?

You don't need any kind of permission, per se.

I reckon it'd be best to have a link to the translated page at the top.

translate it, and try not to rewrite anything in the process. we are aware that not everything will translate correctly or exactly. when you are done you can edit the links section to include a hyperlink to your translation.

so, I'm trying to compress the page into a ~30kb article. Globalsettings is in a separate article, the FAQs will be too. What about the rest of the page? It has in this moment 42kb.

~Stenny asked if he could update the wiki to include information on the new wifi plugin save feature. i edited the wiki and took out the Wi-Fi Update section. i moved that information into a sub-section of the plug-in section which is specificially for the wifi plug-in. there is now a perfect place to add the information about the cloud saving.

so, i would like to request some information to fulfill specifically the AKAIO FAQs section.

most information in there is in part old and/or not fully explained:
- Does AKAIO work on DS(i) with FW vx.xx? (this should be updated as it says that we will have to usually wait. links to news here in GBAtemp noticing the firmware updates can be added)
- I am having AK2.1-to-AK2.1 local Wi-Fi problems, why? (any reports on this? is it just Wi-Fi that doesn't work? do we have these problems with AK2i?)
- I turned off Download-play and my games seem faster, why? (why? as in all the AKAIO Wiki, i think that a more advanced explanation should be added (like the DMA Mode section))

etc., mainly i am posting three suggestions:
one: extract Acekard-related questions like Buying an Acekard to a new page. AKAIO Wiki should only explain about the firmware itself, imo.
two: update all the information possibly like i did for example above.
three: not mentioned above, we should add bits of information about the 3DS, like if the AKAIO has problems.

grammar nazis, please. these are my suggestions. i can't update because i do not know all about english language, as you see above. criticize it, add your suggestions, let's do that wiki a lot more friendly and full of information.

i agree that this could be updated to reflect the latest firmware and should actually be updated to talk about the 3DS as well.

this is an issue that appears to either be hardware related or dswifilib related. it has never been solved and people still report it. this information can stay as it is for now.

actually, from what i recall, download play has been fixed to the point that it no longer causes any problems. this actually would require a short discussion with normmatt, just to be sure. this was originally in the FAQ because it was a problem with the akaio download play code that was causing roms to run slower if it was enabled. the specifics behind it don't really matter, it happens and is a frequently asked question (thus why its in the FAQ).

akaio wiki is about all things akaio related. the faq section was added to better explain some issues and to help answer questions. everything is relative and related to akaio and should stay. the faq is at the bottom and does not interfere with ones ability to read the wiki.

the info should be pretty well updated at this point, perhaps there are 1 or 2 things that need to be addressed. i took time to update the wiki around 1.8.5 and included all of the changes up to that point.

3DS information should be added to the FAQ and discuss anything which is 3DS related. remember the wiki is for how akaio works as in a set of instructions. the FAQ is for everything else such as 3DS specific problems, explanation of DMA mode, etc.

i think the wiki is already full of information and extremely user friendly. it is very well laid out, explained in from top to bottom and each specific section follows the order in which the user would either need that information or as they are using akaio. the tabs are laid out in order, setting up akaio is at the top of the wiki, etc.

How about a Hotkey Index with the key combination, a brief description of what it does, and a link to the wiki sub heading for further detail?

i.e.

16. Hotkey Index
16.1 Soft-Reset - "L+R+B+A+Down" Resets to akAIO startup from current ROM or homebrew. See {link} 5.7 {/link}
16.2 In Game Cheat Enable/Disable - "start+select+down/up" Toggles selected cheats on and off from within a game. See {link} 6.1 {/link}

etc. I'm pretty sure that there are other hotkey combinations as well; it would be nice to see them indexed.

(edit)
"R+Y" is another handy hotkey. It toggles from .nds only view to .nds and .sav view while in akAIO.

i double checked the tabs to make sure they are up-to-date.
i added info about future language updates to the appropriate tab
i reorganized the wifi update section -- now the file to download spinbox options are in the same order as within akaio.
i updated the homebrew properties option to reflect that now users can choose which hooking method to use on a per-rom basis
i updated the wifi plug-in section and it now has information on the cloud saving.
i updated the wifi plug-in section to include wifi information found towards the end of the wiki, which was out of place.

====

i'll read over the FAQ in the next few days and make any updates that should be there.

this was something smiths added and he requested that it was not in the wiki. i think its time we add it at this point as its pretty well known now that it exists. i'll find a place to add it right now.

as for the other 3, they are already in their appropriate sections. adding them to a 2nd "hot key" section would just be duplicating information.

===edit===
added it here: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/AKAIO#NDS_Save, where it seemed most appropriate.

so, what about we define a date to do those updates? do you need help?

i agree with your points, the wiki is already friendly, i didn't say the opposite.
