Hacking Advice old luma version

Hello, I followed this 3ds scene long time ago in 2014 until 2017.
I returned and wanted to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong and want some advice.

I have the old Luma3DS v8.0. As far as I can remember and correct me if I’m wrong, I can run homebrews and 3rd party apps on sysnand.
And I’m at 11.6.0-39E version, is it safe to update from this old version of Luma?
If not, could anyone tell me what thread I should follow or if there is a solid video on YouTube.

I just don’t wanna try to mess up, I would appreciate anyone helping me

If you are on 8.0, then you should be on B9S. You might be latest but it doesn’t hurt to update that

From there, update to the latest version of Luma3DS

You should also update all of the homebrew on the system, which the Guide should also provide.
Do not follow YouTube videos, they are prone to be outdated and problematic to work with

Hey Lili, thank you for helping me. I got an issue, where it says section 2 - installing boot9strap.

the nr 1, I can’t seem to be able to launch that luma 3ds menu. Says by holding start, nothing appears. The 3ds turns on and off.

im able to run another luma3ds menu but if I press select+start. That one has no option to install safeb9sinstaller.
Maybe I missed a step

Do you have the Safeb9sinstaller files in the Luma/payloads folder?

It suddenly worked, I kept trying to press start*** 4 more times. Until It instantly showed the menu to install it.

many thanks Lilith for sharing tutorials, I updated successfully to latest update and everything still working fine (fbi, Devmenu, homebrew and more)
